Aim: The objective of the present research was to evaluate variations in hospital stay as well as morbidity based on the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and Full Outline of Un-Responsive (FOUR) scores for patients who had traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Materials And Methods: A total of 107 patients with TBI patients who attended the emergency department of MES Medical College, Perinthalmanna, were enrolled into the study. FOUR and GCS scoring systems were used to assess the patients within 24 hours of the presentation to the emergency department.

Land-use and land-cover (LULC) is an important component for sustainable natural resource management, and there are considerable impacts of the rapid anthropogenic LULC changes on environment, ecosystem services, and land surface processes. One of the significant adverse implications of the rapidly changing urban LULC is the increase in the Land Surface Temperature (LST) resulting in the urban heat island effect. In this study, we used a time series of Landsat satellite images from 1992 to 2020 in the Srinagar city of the Kashmir valley, North-western Himalaya, India to understand the linkages between LULC dynamics and LST, derived from the archived images using the Google Earth Engine (GEE).

Pleural effusion is a relatively common condition encountered in the pediatric emergency department. Intratumoral granulomas and granulomas in lymph nodes draining breast carcinomas have been reported previously. However, in regions like Pakistan, where the incidence of tuberculosis (TB) is high, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between TB and a non-specific granulomatous response especially if there is an association with focal necrosis. We present a series of cases of invasive breast carcinoma with an associated granulomatous reaction in lymph nodes with or without necrosis, which were further analyzed for a possible coexisting tuberculosis using special stains and PCR-based assays for the identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Isolation, characterization and kinetics of goat cystatins.

Two cysteine proteinase inhibitors I and II were purified from goat kidney using alkaline denaturation, ammonium sulphate fractionation, gel filtration on Sephadex G-75 and ion exchange chromatography on DEAE cellulose. The purified inhibitors were homogenous and showed a single band on SDS PAGE under reducing and non-reducing conditions with an apparent molecular mass of 67 kDa. The cystatin forms were stable in the range of pH 3-10 and up to 95 degrees C.
