Posttonsillectomy Pain Relief and Wound Healing by Applying Bismuth Iodoform Paraffin Paste (BIPP) to Dissected Tonsillar Beds.

 Tonsillectomy is one of the most common operations performed by otorhinolaryngology surgeons worldwide; however, the insufficient quality of the postoperative pain management and effective posttonsillectomy pain relief remain a clinical dilemma.  To evaluate the efficacy of applying bismuth iodine paraffin paste (BIPP) to the dissected fossa as an adjuvant therapy for a better outcome in terms of posttonsillectomy pain management and due to its wound healing properties.  The present is a prospective randomized control pilot study with 44 patients aged > 7 years who underwent tonsillectomy.

Weed infestation can be harmful to crop growth and cause severe losses in yield by absorbing nutrients and releasing inhibitory secondary metabolites and thus needs to be controlled for food security. Three-Dimensional Multi-Target Tracking Using Dual-Orthogonal Baseline Interferometric Radar.

Multi-target tracking (MTT) generally needs either a Doppler radar network with spatially separated receivers or a single radar equipped with costly phased array antennas. However, Doppler radar networks have high computational complexity, attributed to the multiple receivers in the network. Moreover, array signal processing techniques for phased array radar also increase the computational burden on the processing unit.

Abdominal Dermis-Fat Graft Versus Conventional Temporalis Myofascial Flap Interposition in Temporomandibular Joint Ankylosis: A Prospective Clinical Comparative Study.

Introduction: Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis is an extremely disabling condition with almost complete inability to open the jaws causing difficulty in chewing, speech, poor oral hygiene and cosmetic disfigurement. Temporalis myofascial flap still remains the most common interpositional material used; however, patients usually complain of pain during movement, unesthetic bulging in the temporal region and trismus due to scar contracture. The main aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of abdominal dermis-fat graft and compare it with temporalis myofascial flap as to see which of the two grafts offers more advantages and provides better postoperative results following TMJ ankylosis surgery.

Metastatic clear cell variant of renal cell carcinoma of the mandible: Review and case report.

A case of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) to the mandible is reported. A 22-year-old man consulted us for hypoesthesia of the right lower lip. Panorama X-ray film showed a radiolucent lesion in the right mandibular body.

Social media is rapidly being incorporated into medical education. We created a small group, reflective practice sessions by integrating specific medical cases to improve awareness about professionalism on social media. Medical scenarios were generated for reflective practice sessions on social media professionalism.

Lichen Planus Pemphigoides Presenting Preferentially Over Preexisting Scars: A Rare Instance of Isotopic Phenomenon.

An 18-year-old girl presented with multiple itchy hyperpigmented papules and plaques, along with tense blisters over the lower limbs and buttocks for last 3 months. These papules, plaques, and bullae were mostly localized to preexisting scars. The histopathological findings from papule and bulla were consistent with lichen planus (LP) and bullous pemphigoid, respectively.

Evaluation of ultrasonography as a diagnostic tool in the management of head and neck facial space infections: A clinical study.

Introduction: Superficial facial space infections represent a significant amount of the dental problems that present to hospital. Determining whether an odontogenic swelling is a cellulitis or abscess is difficult, but important as both may require different treatments. The use of an ultrasound may aid in differentiating cellulitis and abscess.

Transforming patient care by introducing an electronic medical records initiative in a developing country.

The incorporation of an electronic medical record into patient care is a priority in developed countries, but faces significant obstacles for adoption in developing countries. The goal of our study was to define and assess the efficiency of a personalized intervention on village physicians' use of electronic medical records in rural community health services of underprivileged areas. Six towns were selected with two bordering local health stations from each town.

Background: Warfarin is utilised for the treatment of thromboembolic disease. Its use demands a careful and continual monitoring given its narrow therapeutic index and potentially life-threatening complications. The aim of this study was to assess the extent of patients' knowledge of their warfarin therapy.

The number of citations an article receives is an important indication of its impact and contribution to the clinical world. There is a paucity of literature concerning top article citations in cardiology. The main objective of this investigation was to bridge this gap and to provide readers a practical guide in evaluating the cardiovascular literature.

Gout nodulosis: report of a rare case and brief review.

The development of tophi in the absence of prior episodes of gouty arthritis is unusual. We hereby present a case of a non-alcoholic, normoglycemic, and normotensive middle-aged man, who presented with multiple nodules distributed bilaterally over the dorsum of hands, feet, and elbow joints without any prior history of arthritis. Serum uric acid level was found to be normal.

Outcome of prolonged QRS interval in dilated cardiomyopathy: role of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators on mortality.

Aim: The main objectives of this study were to investigate the relationship between prolonged QRS interval and its prognosis in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and to determine the effects of cardiac pacing with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) on mortality in patients with a QRS width > 150 ms.

Methods: We retrospectively queried the healthcare enterprise data warehouse and the patient medical records from January 2007 to December 2012 for 1453 cases of DCM at a university- affiliated hospital. Of the 1453 cases, 989 patients were included in the final analyses.

Systematized linear epidermolytic hyperkeratosis.

A 5-year-old boy presented with widespread asymptomatic hyperpigmented verrucous plaques since 3 months of age. The lesions were distributed in a linear manner along Blaschko's lines on trunk and extremities and were accentuated in flexures and around joints. There was no history of blistering or redness and no other family member was affected.
