Article Synopsis
  • Satellite DNA repeats are prevalent in eukaryotic genomes, and while much research exists on these in various taxa, there's a notable lack of studies focusing on Tettigoniidae, prompting this study to fill that gap.
  • The research discovered that satellite DNA repeats constitute a significant portion of Tettigoniidae genomes—up to 92% in some species—showing considerable variations in their abundance and family counts across different species within the family.
  • Findings indicate a strong correlation between the number of satellite DNA families and their abundance, along with distinct chromosomal distributions, suggesting unique evolutionary processes influencing satellite DNA patterns in Tettigoniidae.

Article Synopsis
  • Prosthetic arms help individuals with amputations perform daily tasks, but current technology faces challenges in motion prediction and rehabilitation for transhumeral amputees.
  • This study proposes a functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) method to identify six specific upper limb motions by analyzing brain signals from both healthy individuals and transhumeral amputees.
  • By utilizing an artificial neural network on the collected fNIRS data, the approach achieved a classification accuracy of 78%, indicating promising potential for real-time control of transhumeral prostheses.

Article Synopsis
  • The objective of the study was to assess changes in the ganglion cell complex using optical coherence tomography (OCT) after patients received an intravitreal injection of bevacizumab (Avastin) for diabetic macular edema.
  • Conducted as a quasi-experimental study at Lahore General Hospital from March 2017 to April 2018, patients were carefully selected to exclude those with other eye conditions affecting OCT measurements.
  • Results showed a significant increase in ganglion cell complex thickness (p < 0.001) one month following the injection, indicating that bevacizumab administration has an impact on retinal measurements.

This is a case report about the anterior segment findings of epithelial ingrowth in a young female patient after penetrating trauma. The patient underwent multiple surgeries after penetrating trauma and epithelial ingrowth was noted on regular follow-up. Epithelial ingrowth was noted along the inner surface of corneal endothelium along with the presence of cysts.
