Background: Rising childhood obesity rates in Asia are adding risk for the future adult burden of obesity and noncommunicable diseases. Weak policies across most Asian countries enable unrestricted marketing of obesogenic foods and beverages to children. Television is the common medium for food marketing to reach this audience.

Since nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) signaling dynamics have been examined using a single subunit, RelA, it remains unclear whether more information might be transmitted via other subunits. Using NF-κB double-knockin reporter mice, we monitored both canonical NF-κB subunits, RelA and c-Rel, simultaneously in single macrophages by quantitative live-cell imaging.

They pose a unique challenge to clinicians, especially in the prehospital setting. Published guidance on the prehospital management of PNIs is limited, and there is no review of the current prehospital practice.

Studying the precise role(s) of stress-activated protein kinases is challenging, because stress conditions induce adaptation and impose selection pressure. To meet this challenge, we have applied an optogenetic system with a single plasmid to express light-activated p38α or its upstream activator, MKK6, in conjunction with live-cell fluorescence microscopy.

Focusing on Bangladesh, India and Pakistan experiences, the paper reveals that even though much progress has been done in the urbanisation in the selected countries, the process of waste management (mainly municipal solid waste) has not been effective due to low level of local inclusion. As a result, the WtE generation potential has not been realised to its fullest.

ERK signaling is dynamic, involving phosphorylation/dephosphorylation, nucleocytoplasmic shuttling, and interactions with scores of protein substrates in the cytosol and in the nucleus. Live-cell fluorescence microscopy using genetically encoded ERK biosensors offers the potential to infer those dynamics in individual cells.

The lack of tools to directly monitor NF-κB proteins in vivo has hindered such efforts. Here, we introduce reporter mice with the endogenous RelA (p65) or c-Rel labeled with distinct fluorescent proteins and a double knockin with both subunits labeled.

We investigated the underlying mechanism of LLPS in virus infected cells, where virus inclusion bodies are formed by an RNA-binding phosphoprotein (NS2) of Bluetongue virus to serve as sites for subviral particle assembly and virus maturation. We show that NS2 undergoes LLPS that is dependent on protein phosphorylation and RNA-binding and that LLPS occurrence is accompanied by a change in protein secondary structure.

We interviewed 2572 women from two rural districts in Bangladesh who had a live birth in the preceding six months. We analysed the number of IFA tablets received and consumed during pregnancy and examined the factors influencing IFA consumption by multiple linear regression and user adherence-adjusted effective coverage of IFA (consuming ≥180 IFA tablets) by Poisson regression.

Activated in virtually all cell-cell communication networks of the immune system, NF-κB is thought to affect age-related defects of both innate and adaptive immune cells, relevant to inflamm-ageing and declining adaptive immunity, respectively. Moreover, the family of NF-κB proteins that exist as heterodimers and homodimers exert their function beyond the immune system.

However, assessing the nutritional status of Bangladeshi children and adolescents through measurement of body composition using skinfold thickness is barely studied. The current study aims to determine children's body composition and nutritional status, and contributing factors among children aged 2 to 15 years in the northern part of Bangladesh.

Based on previous meta-analyses, bivalirudin improves 30-day mortality rates compared with heparin, especially when vascular access is predominantly femoral. However, no meta-analysis has yet reported whether this mortality benefit with bivalirudin persists beyond 30 days.

For Influenza A virus (IAV) such a glycoprotein receptor has not been described, to date. Here we show that IAV is using the host membrane glycoprotein CD66c as a receptor for entry into human epithelial lung cells.

The recently reported results of the International Study of Comparative Health Effectiveness with Medical and Invasive Approaches, the largest prospective trial of optimal medical therapy (OMT) with or without myocardial revascularization, provides a unique opportunity to determine whether there is an incremental benefit of revascularization in stable CAD patients.
Methods: Scientific databases and websites were searched to find randomized clinical trials (RCTs).
The frameshift mutants K192S and R153S, of the polyglutamine tract-binding protein 1 (PQBP-1), are stable intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). They are each associated with the severe cognitive disorder known as the Renpenning syndrome, a form of X-linked intellectual disability (XLID). Relative to the monomeric wild-type protein, these mutants are dimeric, contain more folded contents, and have higher thermal stabilities.

Small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) is now helpful in providing information about shape, conformation, and assembly state of molecules, besides macromolecular folding-unfolding, aggregation, and extended conformations. The article discusses here a protocol to identify those fractions of heterogeneous proteins that are rich in homogeneous samples, testified by proper conformation and protein activity.
