Article Synopsis
  • - Calciphylaxis is a serious condition characterized by the calcification of small blood vessels, leading to tissue damage and ulcers, often seen in individuals with end-stage renal disease but can also affect those without kidney issues.
  • - Risk factors for calciphylaxis include diabetes, hyperparathyroidism, certain cancers, use of warfarin, liver disease, and autoimmune disorders, making it essential to recognize these factors for effective diagnosis and treatment.
  • - A case study describes a 58-year-old man with end-stage renal disease who developed penile calciphylaxis, leading to rapid tissue necrosis; he chose conservative treatment over surgery, opting for local wound care and antibiotics instead.

The purpose of the paper is to describe vascular filling patterns in corneal neovascularization (CoNV) and evaluate the effect of corneal lesion location, CoNV surface area and multi-quadrant CoNV involvement on the filling pattern. It is a retrospective study of patients who were investigated for CoNV using fluorescein angiography (FA) or indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) between January 2010 and July 2020. Angiography images were graded and analyzed multiple independent corneal specialists.

Effective suturing remains key to achieving successful outcomes in corneal surgery, especially anterior lamellar keratoplasty and full thickness transplantation. Limitations in the technique may result in complications such as wound leak, infection, or high astigmatism post corneal graft. By using a systematic approach, this study reviews articles and conducts content analysis based on update 2020 PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses criteria).

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is characterized by the clonal proliferation of malignant myeloid blast cells in the marrow along with impaired normal hematopoiesis. With an almost stagnant approach for the management of patients with AML in the last three decades, the main purpose of this paper is to increase our understanding of recent scientific advancements for the enhanced diagnosis and treatment of AML. Existing research data related to different approaches for a possible improvement in AML management has been collected and discussed.

Two-dimensional (2-D) approaches to microwave imaging have dominated the research landscape primarily due to the moderate levels of measurement data, data-acquisition time, and computational costs required. Three-dimensional (3-D) approaches have been investigated in simulation, phantom, and animal experiments. While 3-D approaches are certainly important in terms of the potential to improve image quality, their associated costs are significant at this time.
