Analysis of neoadjuvant therapies in breast cancer with respect to pathological complete response, disease-free survival and overall survival: 15 years follow-up data from Kuwait.

Aims: Optimizing neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimens is essential for achieving maximal pathological complete response (pCR) in patients with breast cancer. pCR is usually considered as a surrogate marker for survival. The aim of this study was to analyze pCR with respect to various neoadjuvant regimens and its effect on survival.

Ewing's sarcoma as second malignant neoplasm after retinoblastoma: a case report.

Objectives: To report a case of a child with the hereditary form of unilateral retinoblastoma (RB), who developed Ewing's sarcoma of the right fibula 3 years after the enucleation of the right eye.

Case Presentation And Intervention: The child was diagnosed as a case of RB of the right eye at the age of 9 months. He was fully investigated and found to have locally advanced RB with bone marrow involvement (Reese-Ellsworth stage IVA).

Subjective quality of life of outpatients with diabetes: comparison with family caregivers' impressions and control group.

Background: There is a paucity of studies on comparison of quality of life (QOL) of type-1 and type-2 diabetes patients, and the impact of family caregivers' impressions on the QOL of patients.

Objectives: To assess the subjective QOL of Sudanese diabetics using the WHOQOL-Bref, compared with a general population sample; examine caregiver-patient concordance; and assess the variables that impact on QOL.

Method: The responses of 105 outpatients with type-1 diabetes and 136 with type-2 diabetes were compared with their family caregivers' impressions and 139 general population subjects.

Objectives: To assess the subjective quality of life (QOL) of family caregivers of Sudanese type-1 and type-2 diabetic outpatients, using the WHO 26-item QOL instrument, compared with a general population sample; and to examine the factors associated with caregiver QOL.

Method: Responses of caregivers of 105 outpatients with type-1 diabetes and 135 with type-2 diabetes were compared with 139 general population subjects.

Results: Caregivers were satisfied with the content of items related to general social supports.

High survival rate in childhood non-Hodgkin lymphoma without CNS involvement: results of BFM 95 study in Kuwait.

Non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL) in children are the second most common malignant tumors in Kuwait. Until 1995 the patients (pts) received institutional protocols. From October 1995 to September 2000 21 children with NHL were treated.
