Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to assess the complexity of urinary stones in relation to endoscopic surgery to establish a standard for post-surgical care.
  • A total of 1317 endoscopic procedures were analyzed, focusing on stone density, size, and shape through both prospective and retrospective patient studies.
  • Findings suggest that stone density doesn’t significantly affect complications or treatment success, while the number and type of stones influence the complexity of surgery; standards for post-operative care are proposed, with complications categorized using the Clavien-Dindo classification.

Using a large clinical material, retrospective analysis of the frequency, nature and causes of intraoperative complications occurring in the process of endoscopic removing stones from the upper urinary tract was performed. In 2008-2010 three trained surgeons with experience in endoscopic surgery of nephrolithiasis over 20 years performed 1027 operations in RSCU (Tashkent, Uzbekistan). The data were also compared with results of similar interventions which were performed by the same surgeons before 1997 during the development of the method.

Retrospective analysis of 1027 percutaneous radioendoscopic surgeries for upper urinary tract stones was performed. Postoperative acute pyelonephritis was the most common complication (11.2%), the frequency of which was significantly dependent on the presence of source of infection in the urinary tract, and the frequency of intra- and postoperative complications.

The authors present the results of a new transvesical approach for radiofrequency needle ablation of the prostate in 29 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The ablation has been done using a new radiofrequency generator ESHFG-440-40-1 made in Russia. Upon 12-month follow-up urination normalized in 23 patients.

Transurethral needle ablation (TUNA) of the prostate is an effective method of thermal treatment of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Suprapubic transvesical access was used in order to extend indications for interstitial application of radiofrequency energy. Transvesical needle ablation (TVNA) was performed in 89 patients with BPH under conditions of chronic ischuria or in the presence of a suprapubic cystostoma.
