The value of morphologic features to be used prognosing dissemination and survival in skin malignant melanoma is discussed. Single-factor statistical analysis showed tumor thickness, extent of invasion or local spreading, clinico-morphologic pattern, lymphoid-plasmocytic infiltration, mitotic activity and cell composition to be the most reliable in predicting survival and dissemination in clinical stage I malignant melanoma of the skin. These parameters should be evaluated at microscopic evaluation of the tumor.

Out of 2018 patients, skin melanoma occurred in IO2 (5%) cases during pregnancy. Three-, five- and ten year survival was analysed in the latter cases versus term of pregnancy, abortion and the stage of the disease. Also comparison was made between the said group, another 42 females who developed tumors during lactation period and 599 normally-cycling females of reproductive age who were not pregnant when melanoma appeared (controls).

Out of 3,822 cases of malignant skin melanoma from an unknown primary site, metastases were registered in 53 (1.4%). The male/female ratio was 3:1.
