Article Synopsis
  • Cyclophosphamide (CP) is an effective anticancer drug but can cause severe toxicity to the liver and other organs, limiting its use.
  • This study aims to investigate the protective effects of selenium (Se) and boron (B) against liver damage caused by CP in experimental rats, comparing their efficacy.
  • Results show that both Se and B can reverse the harmful effects of CP on liver health, with Se providing slightly better protection compared to B.

Background: Ceranib-2, an acid ceramidase (AC) inhibitor, can inhibit cancer cell proliferation and tumor development. However, poor water solubility and low cellular bioavailability limit its efficacy in cancer treatment.

Methods And Results: This study aimed to investigate the cell death induced by ceranib-2 and its solid lipid nanoformulation (ceranib-2-SLN) produced by the hot homogenization technique and the synergistic relationship between ceramide and telomerase in vitro and in silico.

Background: Traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) is the most common preventable cause of morbidity. Despite rapid advances in medicine, effective pharmacological treatment against SCI has not yet been confirmed. This study aimed to investigate the possible anti-inflammatory, antiapoptotic, and neuroprotective effects of safinamide after SCI in a rat model.

This randomized controlled study aimed to determine the effect of Reiki and aromatherapy on vital signs, oxygen saturation, and anxiety level in patients undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. The sample consisted of 100 patients divided into Reiki (n = 34), aromatherapy (n = 33), and control (n = 33) groups. Data were collected 3 times (before, during, and after the procedure) using a descriptive characteristics questionnaire, a follow-up form, and the State Anxiety Subscale.

Cadmium chloride (Cd) and sodium arsenite (As) are two prominent examples of non-biodegradable substances that accumulate in ecosystems, pose a serious risk to human health and are not biodegradable. Although the toxicity caused by individual use of Cd and As is known, the toxicity of combined use (Cd+As) to mammals is poorly understood. The present study aims to investigate the hepatoprotective effect of curcumin (CUR), a naturally occurring bioactive component isolated from the root stem of Curcuma longa Linn.

Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate whether providing psychological support to healthcare professionals who are actively involved in the pandemic process will reduce the psychological risk factors created by the pandemic on healthcare professionals.

Methods: A total of 440 healthcare professionals working in different positions in 2 state hospitals, which are considered pandemic hospitals, were included in the study. Sociodemographic Data Form, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Inventory, and Psychological Resilience Scale were used in the study, which was carried out with the experimental design pre-test-post-test model before the experiment.

Background: Traumatic brain injury is still an important health problem worldwide. Traumatic brain injury not only causes direct mechanical damage to the brain but also induces biochemical changes that lead to secondary nerve cell loss. In this study, we investigated the neuroprotective effect of milrinone after traumatic brain injury (TBI) in a rat model.

Background: Cyclin D1, a member of the cyclin protein family, is instrumental in the cell cycle due to its influence on the progression from G1 to the S phase. Its overexpression causes reduced doubling time and is also associated with clonogenic growth. The purpose of the present study was to assess cyclin D1 expression in patients with simple hyperplasia (SH), endometrial intraepithelial neoplasia (EIN) and endometrioid endometrial carcinoma, and to evaluate whether there was an association between cyclin D1 expression and the clinicopathological features of endometrioid endometrial carcinoma.
