Background: The two-step Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) approach was recently introduced to malnutrition diagnosis in a hospital setting. This study compares the diagnostic performance of this approach that uses the Nutritional Risk Screening-2002 (NRS-2002) as a screening tool and the direct application of GLIM malnutrition diagnostic criteria in hospitalized patients.
Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 290 adult and older adult patients who were hospitalized.
Background: Some studies have compared the efficacy of nifedipine with that of other tocolytic drugs in the treatment of preterm labor, but the reported results are conflicting.
Objective: To compare the efficacy of nifedipine with that of ritodrine, nitroglycerine and magnesium sulfate for the management of preterm labor.
Methods: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Clarivate Analytics Web of Science, and Google Scholar were searched until April 3,2024 using predefined keywords.
Research into the effects of raspberry on blood pressure and lipid profiles is inconclusive. This meta-analysis was aimed to determine whether raspberry has beneficial effects in clinical practice and to what extent these effects are associated with blood pressure and lipid profiles. A systematic literature search up to September 2023 was completed in PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science, to identify eligible RCTs.

In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we have analyzed and interpreted the results obtained from previous randomized clinical trials on the effect of paricalcitol on C-reactive protein in CKD patients in the literature.
Methods: MEDLINE, SciVerse Scopus, and Clarivate Analytics Web of Science databases were searched until January 2023 and related articles were obtained through a careful screening process allowing extraction of required data from selected articles.
Introduction: A previous meta-analysis reported the positive effects of statin therapy on endothelial function. However, the obtained result had several limitations that necessitated updating the information in this field. Therefore, a systematic and meta-analysis review was conducted to determine whether statin therapy could improve endothelial function, as assessed by flow-- mediated dilation (FMD).

However, no studies have examined the effects of these diets in obese adults. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the effects of low-calorie high protein diets on sleep quality in obese adults.

However, its proven effects on endothelial function are unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to evaluate the effects of n-3 PUFAs supplementation on FMD of the brachial artery.

At the same time, studies have shown that there is a two-way relationship between low-calorie diets and depression in obese individuals. This study was designed and implemented to investigate the effect of a low-calorie high-protein diet on psychometric variables in obese individuals.

Objective: To provide an overview of the effects of Quercetin on cardiometabolic factors based on meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Method: MEDLINE, SciVerse Scopus, and Clarivate Analytics Web of Science databases were searched to identify eligible publications.
Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are one of the most important causes of death worldwide. Dyslipidemia is one of the main causal risk factors for CVD that can be controlled by modifying lifestyle, which entails the use of healthy diets containing functional foods. The present study was conducted to summarize the effects of Spirulina on the lipid profile in previous randomized controlled trials.

Recently, it has been observed that l-carnitine levels, which play an important role in fatty acid metabolism, have an inverse association with the severity of COVID-19 and its complications, hence a potential role for supplementing with this nutraceutical has been suggested. The current protocol describes a trial aiming to an evaluation of the effect of l-carnitine intervention on mortality and clinical outcomes in ICU-admitted patients with COVID-19.

In the present systematic review and meta-analysis, we aimed to assess the effect of combination therapy with statins and ezetimibe on some proinflammatory cytokines. Databases, including MEDLINE, SciVerse, Scopus, and Clarivate Analytics Web of Science databases, were searched up to February 2022, for terms related to combination therapy with statins and ezetimibe and proinflammatory cytokines.

In the present study, a systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to estimate the effect of curcumin administration on inflammatory markers in hemodialysis (HD) patients. A systematic search was performed in MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, and Clarivate Analytics Web of Science databases from 1997 until June2022 for terms related to curcumin/turmeric and hemodialysis (HD).

However, the results of individual studies on the effect of statin therapy in combination with ezetimibe on C-reactive protein (CRP) and high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) levels have not been clear. Therefore, the present systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted on randomized clinical trials (RCTs) to evaluate the effect of statin therapy in combination with ezetimibe on CRP and hs-CRP levels.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of beetroot/beetroot plus vitamin C on cardiovascular health status and function in patients with CAD.
Method And Analysis: A randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial to recruit 90 patients with CAD at the cardiac outpatient clinic and Imam Reza Hospital, Mashhad, Iran.

Aim: Critical ill patients experience catabolic stress, which results in a systemic inflammatory response. The inflammatory response is associated with increased complications, including infection, multi-organ dysfunction, increased length of ICU stays, and mortality. l-Carnitine supplementation may play an important role in these patients by regulating inflammatory cell function.

However, the findings on the alterations of cardiometabolic and anthropometric indices following walnut consumption in adults with Mets have not been fully conclusive.
Methods: The current study of eight randomized controlled trials (RCTs) examined the effects of walnut consumption on glucose homeostasis factors (fasting plasma glucose (FPG), insulin, hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c)), lipid profile (triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c)), high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) concentrations and anthropometric indices (body weight (BW), body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference (WC)) in trials of 549 participants.
Context: Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) has been proposed as a potential agent to improve renal function in animal studies. But, due to insufficient evidence in human research, further investigation is needed.
