Coronary heart disease (CHD) is one of the major causes of mortality and morbidity in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. In this study, we aimed to assess the association between visit-to-visit variability of fasting blood sugar (FBS), HbA1c, blood sugar 2 h post-prandial (BS2hpp), lipid indices, creatinine, systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP, DBP) and incident CHD in patients with type 2 diabetes during a median follow-up of ten years. The current case-cohort study consisted of 1500 individuals with type 2 diabetes, followed up for the occurrence of CHD from 2002 to 2019.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of a Mediterranean dietary pattern on the incidence of macrovascular and microvascular complications of diabetes, namely cardiovascular disease (CVD), diabetic foot disorders, diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy.

Methods: This longitudinal study was conducted among 71392 adults with diabetes who attended academic tertiary-care outpatient clinics from February 2016 to March 2020 across Iran using the National Program for Prevention and Control of Diabetes database. Among them, 22187 patients with diabetes (type 1 and type 2) completed 2-11 follow-up visits after baseline registration.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the prevalence of specific autoantibodies (ZnT8A, IAAs, GAD65) in patients with Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA) and compares their metabolic profiles to those with type 2 diabetes (T2DM).
  • In a sample of 263 T2DM patients from Tehran, findings showed 11% had IAAs, 3.4% had ZnT8A, and 4.6% had GAD65, with some being triple positive for all three antibodies.
  • The presence of these autoantibodies, especially when positive in combination, was associated with younger age and a worse metabolic profile, indicating the potential for better glycemic control if

Aims: This study was designed to evaluate the conflicting association between 2 tubular protein markers including neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and retinol-binding protein-4 (RBP-4) with albuminuria and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and calculate the accuracy of the role of NGAL and RBP-4 in diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy (DN) in patients with type2 diabetes.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional study that included 133 patients with type 2 diabetes. There were 3 diabetic study groups with normoalbuminuria, moderately increased albuminuria, severely increased albuminuria, and non-diabetic control group without any renal disease.
