Comparison of the prevalence of myofascial trigger points of muscles acting on knee between patients with moderate degree of knee osteoarthritis and healthy matched people.

Introduction: Trigger points have been implicated in the development of several musculoskeletal disorders. Trigger points harbored in lower limb muscles might represent a ubiquitous source of pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). This study was carried out to evaluate the prevalence of Myofascial Trigger Points (MTrPs) in muscles acting on the knee in patients with OA.

Is There an Association Between Lumbosacral Radiculopathy and Painful Gluteal Trigger Points?: A Cross-sectional Study.

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare the prevalence of gluteal trigger point in patients with lumbosacral radiculopathy with that in healthy volunteers.

Design: In a cross-sectional, multistage sampling method, patients with clinical, electromyographic, and magnetic resonance imaging findings consistent with lumbosacral radiculopathy were examined for the presence of gluteal trigger point. Age- and sex-matched clusters of healthy volunteers were selected as the control group.

A high prevalence of cumulative trauma disorders in Iranian instrumentalists.

Background: Cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs) are common in musicians and their prevalence has been the subject of a number of studies in most western countries. Such studies are scarce in developing countries despite the possibility that CTDs may have a different prevalence in these countries, especially when considering traditional musical instruments and different methods of playing. Although not formally studied before, according to our experience the prevalence of CTDs seemed to be high among Iranian instrumentalists.
