Background And Aim: Sodium-glucose cotransporter two inhibitors can reduce cardiovascular events by modulating lipid profiles in patients with heart failure, irrespective of diabetes status. In this study, we aimed to assess the effects of SGLT-2 inhibitors on the lipid profiles of patients with heart failure via a meta-analysis.
Methods: The PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases were searched up to 2023 to retrieve relevant article titles, abstracts, and full texts.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains a formidable challenge in the field of neurodegenerative disorders, necessitating innovative therapeutic strategies. Nanomedicine, leveraging nanomaterials, has emerged as a promising avenue for AD treatment, with a key emphasis on overcoming the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to enhance drug delivery efficiency. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of recent advancements in the application of nanomaterials for AD therapy, highlighting their unique properties and functions.

This review explores genetic profiling impact on surgical decisions for hereditary colorectal cancer (HCRC), assessing options, timing, and outcomes. Genotypes of different HCRCs are discussed, revealing a connection between genetic profiles, disease severity, and outcomes.

In the present study, we compared the efficacy of GLP-1 RAs in cardiovascular events between patients with and without diabetes.
Methods: After finding eligible studies assessing the impact of GLP-1 RAs on cardiovascular events in patients with and without diabetes using a systematic search, we performed a meta-analysis on randomized-controlled trials (RCTs) comparing cardiovascular outcomes between patients taking GLP-1 RAs and placebo stratified by the presence or absence of diabetes.
The heterogeneity of the solid tumor microenvironment (TME) impairs the therapeutic efficacy of standard therapies and also reduces the infiltration of antitumor immune cells, all of which lead to tumor progression and invasion. In addition, self-renewing cancer stem cells (CSCs) support tumor dormancy, drug resistance, and recurrence, all of which might pose challenges to the eradication of malignant tumor masses with current therapies. Natural forms of oncolytic viruses (OVs) or engineered OVs are known for their potential to directly target and kill tumor cells or indirectly eradicate tumor cells by involving antitumor immune responses, including enhancement of infiltrating antitumor immune cells, induction of immunogenic cell death, and reprogramming of cold TME to an immune-sensitive hot state.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is complex neurobehavioral condition influenced by several cellular and molecular mechanisms that are often concerned with synaptogenesis and synaptic activity. Based on the excitation/inhibition (E/I) imbalance theory, ASD could be the result of disruption in excitatory and inhibitory synaptic transmission across the brain. The prefrontal cortex (PFC) is the chief regulator of executive function and can be affected by altered neuronal excitation and inhibition in the course of ASD.

This systematic review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in lowering the risk of life-threatening VTs among individuals with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.
Methods: We searched five databases, including Central, PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Scopus, for studies evaluating the efficacy of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) for the prevention of ICD events for VT or VF, published up to December 1, 2023.
Immunotherapies using immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy have achieved successful results against several types of human tumors, particularly hematological malignancies. However, their clinical results for the treatment of solid tumors remain poor and unsatisfactory. The immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) plays an important role by interfering with intratumoral T-cell infiltration, promoting effector T-cell exhaustion, upregulating inhibitory molecules, inducing hypoxia, and so on.
