- A novel method for detecting glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) was developed using the combination of 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and iron supplements, specifically ferric ammonium citrate (FAC), evaluated through R' and quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM).
- In experiments with glioblastoma cells and Wistar rats, results showed significantly higher intracellular iron accumulation after sequential treatment with ALA and FAC compared to control groups.
- The study demonstrated that this treatment not only enhanced iron deposition in glioma cells but also improved the detection capabilities of 3 T MRI for identifying GBM through increased relaxivity and magnetic susceptibility values.

Although being neurotoxic in commercial doses, a low dose of diluted fluorescein seems to be safe on the basis the existing data in the literature.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of a low- dose intrathecal fluorescein injection in detection of CSF fistula and potential adverse effects of this technique.
