Purpose: Hip osteoarthritis is a common chronic condition primarily affecting the elderly, characterised by the presence of pain, joint stiffness, and restricted movement. Ultrasound-guided Pericapsular Nerve Group (PENG) block combined with viscosupplementation may offer symptomatic improvement in patients with hip osteoarthritis unable to undergo total hip arthroplasty. Background: The optimal treatment of symptomatic Morton's neuroma remains unclear; conservative methods are sometimes ineffective and neurectomy has significant rates of patient dissatisfaction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of minimally invasive distal metatarsal metaphyseal osteotomy (DMMO) and percutaneous release of the deep transverse metatarsal ligament (DTML) in patients with Morton's neuroma.
Methods: Between January 2018 and November 2019, 27 patients (29 feet) diagnosed with Morton's neuroma after clinical and radiological evaluation underwent DMMO and percutaneous DTML release.

Introduction: Multimorbidity is a major challenge for current healthcare systems and professionals. Methods: A multicentric prospective observational study was performed in 9 hospitals. Four multivariate studies were developed to study the temporal risk in the occurrence of hyperglycemia (endpoint), intensive care unit (ICU) admission, length of stay (LOS) and death.
Past studies have shown decreased hematogones in the bone marrow of patients with myelodysplastic syndromes and acquired aplastic anemia. In this study, we examined the bone marrow of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (n = 33, mean age 49 years, age range 2-83 years) for the presence of hematogones and compared their frequency with that of age-matched controls (n = 50). Biopsy of the hepatic mass revealed apposed hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL)/chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Once considered the 'mystery cells' of the bone marrow, major advances in immunology and flow cytometry have enabled us to better characterize these cells and recognize them as physiologic precursors of B-cells. In this review, we describe the morphologic and phenotypic characteristics and clinical relevance of hematogones, and report recent advances in our understanding and knowledge of these cells as they relate to physiologic and different pathologic conditions.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFPrimary effusion lymphoma (PEL) is a rare type of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), which predominantly occurs in HIV-infected individuals, and is pathogenetically linked with Kaposi sarcoma (KS)-associated herpes virus/human herpes virus-8 (KSHV/HHV-8) infection with or without evidence of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) co-infection. Although uncommon, PELs have been reported in immunocompetent patients and recipients of solid organ allografts. Rare cases of KSHV(-) EBV(+) post-transplant effusion lymphomas resembling PEL have also been described, as have KSHV(-) EBV(-) effusion lymphomas, the latter including those arising in individuals with chronic liver disease.

Karyotypic aberrations, including rearrangements, deletions, and amplifications of chromosome 12p, have been documented in B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma; however, rearrangements targeting TEL have rarely been reported. Here we describe a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma that had a complex karyotype including t(9;12)(q22;p13), which was confirmed by fluorescence in situ hybridization to represent rearrangement of TEL.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn the World Health Organization classification, cases with classical Burkitt morphologic features and a very high proliferation fraction but without the MYC translocation are not clearly designated as a separate entity and are usually categorized as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). We identified from our records 33 cases of highly aggressive mature B-cell neoplasms from 8 children and 25 adults with typical Burkitt cytomorphologic, histologic, and immunophenotypic (CD20+/CD10+ and surface immunoglobulin-positive) features. Rearrangement of MYC (MYC+) was present in only 18 of 33 cases, but the proliferation fraction was more than 90% in all MYC-cases (no MYC rearrangement).

An optimal approach to treat RA requires early and intensive intervention with close monitoring of treatment response. Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blockers are recommended in cases of active RA after the unsuccessful use of effective disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs); even adding them to treatment or replacing these drugs.

A method of digitization and synchronization of ECG signals for use in vectorcardiography is hereby presented. It is intended to allow the computerized use of the ECG printout used by most cardiologists. The problem is solved by digitizing the printout, which can then be used for vectorcardiography and other modern techniques, once it is synchronized using cross-correlation.

To better characterize this unusual manifestation of ALCL, we identified 2 additional cases. Both patients had fever, cytopenia, decreased fibrinogen level, mediastinal or hilar adenopathy, minimal to no peripheral adenopathy, and lung infiltrates.
