For cultured meat to effectively replace traditional meat, it is essential to develop scaffolds that replicate key attributes of real meat, such as taste, nutrition, flavor, and texture. However, one of the significant challenges in replicating meat characteristics with scaffolds lies in the considerable gap between the stiffness preferred by cells and the textural properties desired by humans. To address this issue, we focused on the microscale environment conducive to cell growth and the macro-scale properties favored by humans.

During in vitro maturation (IVM), median antral follicles (MAFs) were mechanically aspirated from the porcine ovarian cortex, and this process causes an early disconnection of follicular somatic cells from oocytes within antral follicles before the formation of graafian follicles. Thus, nuclear maturation is accelerated ahead of the completion of cytoplasmic maturation. Dibutyryl-cAMP (dbcAMP), a well-known cAMP modulator, is used to inhibit the resumption of meiosis in immature oocytes.

Background: The identification of oncogenic mutations in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) has led to the development of drugs that target essential survival pathways, but whether targeting multiple survival pathways may be curative in DLBCL is unknown.

Methods: We performed a single-center, phase 1b-2 study of a regimen of venetoclax, ibrutinib, prednisone, obinutuzumab, and lenalidomide (ViPOR) in relapsed or refractory DLBCL. In phase 1b, which included patients with DLBCL and indolent lymphomas, four dose levels of venetoclax were evaluated to identify the recommended phase 2 dose, with fixed doses of the other four drugs.

Brentuximab vedotin (BV) monotherapy (BV-M) and combination (BV-C) therapies are safe and effective for classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) and CD30-expressing peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs). Although the sample sizes have been small (12-29 patients), in clinical studies, response rates of 53-88% have been reported for BV retreatment in patients with an initial BV response. We evaluated the real-world characteristics and treatment patterns of cHL/PTCL patients who received BV and were retreated in the United States.

Research on cultured meat has primarily focused on the mass proliferation or differentiation of muscle cells; thus, the food characteristics of cultured meat remain relatively underexplored. As the quality of meat is determined by its organoleptic properties, cultured meat with similar sensory characteristics to animal-derived meat is highly desirable. In this study, we control the organoleptic and nutritional properties of cultured meat by tailoring the 2D differentiation of primary bovine myoblasts and primary bovine adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells on gelatin/alginate scaffolds with varying stiffness.

CD19 directed CAR-T therapy for Large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) has shown great therapeutic response in patients with relapsed/refractory disease with response rates of 60-80%. However, in patients with a partial response (PR) on initial day 28 post CAR-T therapy imaging, clinical uncertainty remains as half of these patients will ultimately have relapsed disease.   PATIENTS: In 24 patients receiving CD19 directed CAR-T therapy for relapsed/refractory LBCL achieving a PR on day 28, we utilize imaging biomarkers by 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging at pre CAR-T therapy baseline and day 28 to determine factors that may predict best overall response (B-OR), progression free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS).

The exposure of cumulus cells to nuclear matured oocytes can be regulated through the forced delay of nuclear maturation or the alteration of in vitro maturation (IVM) time in cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs). However, to date, no evidence has been presented for the enhancement of cytoplasmic maturation by them, indicating irrelevance of cumulus cells in cytoplasmic maturation. Therefore, in order to identify the requirement of cumulus cells in achieving the cytoplasmic maturation of immature oocytes, this study investigated the effects of cumulus cells on the in vitro cytoplasmic maturation of oocytes within COCs derived from porcine medium antral follicles (MAFs) post-the completion of nuclear maturation.

Patients receiving CD19 CAR T-cell therapy for relapsed/refractory lymphoma experience prolonged and profound B-cell aplasia and hypogammaglobulinemia, placing them at a higher risk for severe COVID-19. Independently, Oh et al and Atanackovic et al demonstrate that despite attenuated humoral response to mRNA-based vaccines, patients demonstrate normal or heightened functional T-cell responses, including antiviral T-cell activity against SARS-CoV-2 variants including Omicron. Collectively, these data reinforce the importance of COVID-19 vaccination following CD19 CAR T-cell therapy, despite long-term B-cell aplasia.
