Article Synopsis
  • Osteoporosis is a common condition caused by a disruption in the balance of bone formation and resorption, leading to bone loss.
  • The study investigated the therapeutic potential of extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from adipose tissue stem cells (ASC-EVs), finding that they contain important growth factors and cytokines, particularly osteoprotegerin (OPG), which help inhibit bone loss and osteoclast differentiation.
  • Administration of ASC-EVs in osteoporosis mice showed significant effectiveness in reducing bone loss and promoting bone health, making them a promising alternative to traditional cell therapies.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep breathing disorder. With the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), this study provides a quantitative standard for accurate diagnosis and effective surgery based on the investigation of the relationship between airway geometry and aerodynamic characteristics. Based on computed tomography data from patients having normal geometry, 4 major geometric parameters were selected and a total of 160 idealized cases were modeled and simulated.
