Alloying is a powerful strategy for tuning the electronic band structure and optical properties of semiconductors. Here, we investigate the thermodynamic stability and excitonic properties of mixed-chalcogen alloys of two-dimensional (2D) hybrid organic-inorganic silver phenylchalcogenides (AgEPh; E = S, Se, Te). Using a variety of structural and optical characterization techniques, we demonstrate that the AgSePh-AgTePh system forms homogeneous alloys (AgSeTePh, 0 ≤ ≤ 1) across all compositions, whereas the AgSPh-AgSePh and AgSPh-AgTePh systems exhibit distinct miscibility gaps.

Although cerebrovascular events are commonly associated with APS, comprehensive studies on risk factors for cerebral infarction in aPLA-positive patients remain sparse. In this retrospective single-center study, data from 9844 patients tested for aPLA between January 2017 and March 2023 were analyzed.

This study analysed real-world outcomes and dosing patterns for brigatinib in patients with crizotinib-refractory ALK+ NSCLC in South Korea.
Methods: This retrospective, non-interventional, cohort study used South Korean Health Insurance and Review Assessment claims data for adults with ALK+ NSCLC who initiated brigatinib between 19 April 2019 and 31 March 2021 after receiving prior crizotinib.

Mutations in are associated with iron-overload disorders. In addition to ferroportin diseases, expression is downregulated in various cancer types.

In addition, SLC transporters act as oncoproteins or tumor-suppressor proteins during the development, progression, and metastasis of various digestive system cancers. SLC22A18, a member of the SLC22 gene family, is an orphan transporter with an unknown endogenous substrate.

We propose a physics-based mathematical model that describes football players' movements during dribbling situations, parameterized by the attacker aggressiveness, the defender hesitance and the top speed of both players. These player- and situation-specific parameters are extracted by fitting the model to real player trajectories from Major League Soccer games, and enable the quantification of player dribbling attributes and decisions beyond classical statistics.

We compared the diagnostic accuracy of the ROX index for HFNC failure in patients with AHRF with and without COVID-19 during acute emergency department (ED) visits.
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of patients with AHRF treated with an HFNC in an ED between October 2020 and April 2022.
Background: Infection with vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) in liver transplant recipients (LTR) has been associated with extended hospital stays, increased readmission rates, graft failure, and death. A tailored perioperative surgical prophylaxis regimen targeting VRE may reduce postoperative infections in VRE-colonized patients. This study investigated the outcomes of perioperative daptomycin in this patient population.

Objective: To investigate the long-term educational and occupational status of prelingually bilateral deaf children who received a cochlear implant (CI) before the age of 7, and to identify factors that influence these outcomes.
Study Design: Retrospective chart review.
Setting: Single tertiary care center.
Electronic nose (e-nose) technology for selectively identifying a target gas through chemoresistive sensors has gained much attention for various applications, such as smart factory and personal health monitoring. To overcome the cross-reactivity problem of chemoresistive sensors to various gas species, herein, we propose a novel sensing strategy based on a single micro-LED (μLED)-embedded photoactivated (μLP) gas sensor, utilizing the time-variant illumination for identifying the species and concentrations of various target gases. A fast-changing pseudorandom voltage input is applied to the μLED to generate forced transient sensor responses.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) has been implicated in cancer progression, invasion, and metastasis. We aimed to evaluate the correlations between clinicopathological characteristics and EMT markers in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who underwent surgical resection and to identify the key regulator in EMT process. Fresh-frozen HCC tissues and adjacent nontumor liver tissues from 30 patients who underwent surgical resection were provided by the Gachon University Gil Medical Center Bio Bank.

Nowadays, quantum dots (QDs)-sensitized semiconductors have emerged as promising materials for PEC hydrogen production due to their tunable bandgap by size or morphology control, displaying excellent optical and electrical properties. Nevertheless, they still suffer from anodic corrosion during long-term cycling, offering poor stability.

However, the high cost, long turnaround times, and the need for sophisticated equipment and skilled personnel limit the use of NGS in daily practice. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a rapid and relatively inexpensive assay available in most laboratories.

In many excitonic materials, extraction of diffusion coefficients can be simplified because of the linear relationship between signal intensity and local excited state population. However, in materials where transport is dominated by free charge carriers, extracting diffusivities accurately from multidimensional data is complicated by the nonlinear dependence of the measured signal on the local charge carrier density.

Here, we show that CdSe/CdS dot-in-rod structures offer a platform for fine-tuning the optical response of CdSe quantum dots through anisotropic strain. By controlling the spatial position of the CdSe core within a growing CdS nanorod shell, varying degrees of uniaxial strain can be introduced.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate long-term changes after balloon dilation of the Eustachian tube (BDET) in chronic otitis media (COM) patients with Eustachian tube (ET) dysfunction that persisted after tympanomastoidectomy (TM).
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of consecutive patients who were diagnosed with COM and ET dysfunction and underwent TM at our tertiary hospital from 2016 to 2017. Silver phenylselenolate (AgSePh) is a hybrid organic-inorganic two-dimensional (2D) semiconductor exhibiting narrow blue emission, in-plane anisotropy, and large exciton binding energy. Here, we show that the addition of carefully chosen solvent vapors during the chemical transformation of metallic silver to AgSePh allows for control over the size and orientation of AgSePh crystals. By testing 28 solvent vapors (with different polarities, boiling points, and functional groups), we controlled the resulting crystal size from <200 nm up to a few μm.
