Traumatic ulcerative granuloma with stromal eosinophilia (TUGSE) is a benign lesion that may arise from the oral mucosa consisting in an ulcerative lesion usually localized in the tongue or cheek. Palate localization is very rare. /: The aim of this study is to describe a case of TUGSE occurring in the hard palate of an 83 y.

The aim of this study was to compare three bleaching agents containing hydrogen peroxide (HP) and carbamide peroxide (CP) in terms of whitening effectiveness, pH variation, and changes in enamel surface roughness. : After controlled staining with a black tea solution, 42 human enamel specimens underwent bleaching treatment using the following agents: HP 40%; HP 35%; CP 16%.

Based on ferromagnetic thin film systems, spintronic devices show substantial prospects for energy-efficient memory, logic, and unconventional computing paradigms. This paper presents a multilayer ferromagnetic spintronic device's experimental and micromagnetic simulation-based realization for neuromorphic computing applications. The device exhibits a temperature-dependent magnetic field and current-controlled multilevel resistance state switching.

Objectives: Optimal time to enucleation following marsupialization of large odontogenic mandibular cysts is undefined. We aim to assess volume reduction throughout follow-up, to indicate optimal time to enucleation. Secondary objectives include the identification of factors influencing cyst reduction.

The key challenges in designing a multi-channel biosignal acquisition system for an ambulatory or invasive medical application with a high channel count are reducing the power consumption, area consumption and the outgoing wire count. This article proposes a spread-spectrum modulated biosignal acquisition system using a shared amplifier and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). We propose a design method to optimize a recording system for a given application based on the required SNR performance, number of inputs, and area.

Lymphocytes infiltrate the gland tissue, leading to anatomical modification and hypofunction. Even if the prognosis of pSS is favorable, quality of life is typically reduced due to the diverse manifestations of the disease.

An infected person may be asymptomatic or present symptoms such as fever, arthralgia, and in pregnancy it may lead to neurological disorders in the fetus, such as microcephaly. Based on the high dissemination potential of ZIVK and its similar antigen composition to other arboviruses, new approaches for selective virus detection are urgently needed.

The aim of this work was to describe the epidemiological data of oral cancers in a province of northern Italy. Incident cases in the period 1996-2020 and EU population standardized rates were reported for Oral Cavity cancer (OC) and OroPharyngeal cancer (OP).

Applying the chaos theory for secure digital communications is promising and it is well acknowledged that in such applications the underlying chaotic systems should be carefully chosen. However, the requirements imposed on the chaotic systems are usually heuristic, without theoretic guarantee for the resultant communication scheme. Among all the primitives for secure communications, it is well accepted that (pseudo) random numbers are most essential.

Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether marsupialization treatment induces changes in the histology of odontogenic keratocyst epithelium and to compare our experience with the literature.
Material And Methods: A retrospective revision of histological samples was performed. 5 patients with odontogenic keratocyst treated with marsupialization follow by enucleation were selected.
Background: Systemic sclerosis is a connective tissue disease. Skin involvement of the mouth and hand may compromise function and quality of life. Autologous fat grafting has been described as a specific treatment of these clinical features.

The present preliminary ex vivo study aims to assess the possible interaction between complex biological systems and laser light, through irradiation of different hard tissue samples. A 645 nm wavelength diode laser was adopted to perform the present evaluation. Due to known similarities to human tissues, swine tissue samples were used.

The recovery of sparse signals given their linear mapping on lower-dimensional spaces can be partitioned into a support estimation phase and a coefficient estimation phase. We propose to estimate the support with an oracle based on a deep neural network trained jointly with the linear mapping at the encoder. The divination of the oracle is then used to estimate the coefficients by pseudo-inversion.

Background: Saliva evaluation could be a possible alternative to blood and/or tissue analyses, for researching specific molecules associated to the presence of systemic diseases and malignancies. The present systematic review has been designed in order to answer to the question "are there significant associations between specific salivary biomarkers and diagnosis of systemic diseases or malignancies?".
Materials And Methods: The Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) statement was used to guide the review.
Unlabelled: Background: The aberrant expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) has been associated with several diseases, including cancer, inflammatory, and autoimmune conditions. Interest in salivary miRNAs as non-invasive tools for the diagnosis of malignancies and systemic diseases is rapidly increasing. The present systematic review was developed for answering the question: "Are salivary microRNAs reliable biomarkers for diagnosis of cancer and systemic diseases?"
Methods: The application of inclusion and exclusion criteria led to the selection of 11 papers.
Background: The etiology of traumatic ulcerative granulomas with stromal eosinophilia (TUGSE) is not clear, traumatic irritation having advocated as the most likely cause. TUGSEs are typically self-limiting slow-healing lesions of the oral mucosa with unclear pathogenesis, commonly manifesting as a rapidly developing, long-lasting ulcer.
Case Presentation: Here we report a controversial case of a self-healing lesion of the tongue in a 57 year-old woman.

In recent years, compressed sensing (CS) has proved to be effective in lowering the power consumption of sensing nodes in biomedical signal processing devices. This is due to the fact the CS is capable of reducing the amount of data to be transmitted to ensure correct reconstruction of the acquired waveforms. Rakeness-based CS has been introduced to further reduce the amount of transmitted data by exploiting the uneven distribution to the sensed signal energy.

One of the most popular and mature technique is the use of complex dynamic phenomena, including chaotic orbits and quantum walks, to generate the required key stream. In this paper, under the assumption of plaintext attacks we investigate the security of a classic diffusion mechanism (and of its variants) used as the core cryptographic primitive in some image cryptosystems based on the aforementioned complex dynamic phenomena.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA simple and scalable method was developed for the fabrication of wearable strain and bending sensors, based on high aspect ratio (length/thickness ∼10(3)) graphite nanobelt thin films deposited by a modified Langmuir-Blodgett technique onto flexible polymer substrates. The sensing mechanism is based on the changes in contact resistance between individual nanobelts upon substrate deformation. Very high sensor response stability for more than 5000 strain-release cycles and a device power consumption as low as 1 nW were achieved.
