Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Super High-Pressure Balloon (SIS-OPN) for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.

Introduction: The super high-pressure NC balloon (OPN NC; SIS Medical AG, Winterthur, Switzerland) is increasingly used in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of its efficacy and safety.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted using PubMed and the Cochrane Library to identify studies using the OPN NC balloon in PCI.

Vascular access: Femoral, radial and large-bore alternative access.

Vascular access for coronary, peripheral, and structural interventions has changed significantly over the past two decades. The evolving demand for both large-bore access for valvular interventions and mechanical support devices, and for safer access for coronary interventions, in patients with comorbidities have driven progress in these areas. This review will provide an overview of the techniques of arterial access in the femoral, forearm (radial and ulnar), and alternative (transcarotid, transaxillary, and transcaval) locations based on the latest evidence and experience.

Angiography-Derived Fractional Flow Reserve: Newer Data and Future Directions.

Several novel software systems have been developed for the reconstruction of the coronary artery tree and the calculation of fractional flow reserve (FFR) from coronary artery angiography images without coronary artery instrumentation: FFR, Computational pressure-flow dynamics derived FFR, quantitative flow ratio (QFR), and vessel FFR. In this report, we review the current evidence on each software, their contemporary use, and future directions.

Single-center analysis of cardiac amyloidosis using 99m Tc-HMDP imaging for diagnosis and evaluation after tafamidis treatment.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of 99m Tc-hydroxymethylene diphosphonate ( 99m Tc-HMDP) imaging for cardiac amyloidosis and to demonstrate changes in cardiac uptake of 99m Tc-HMDP after tafamidis treatment.

Methods: Seventy-five patients with suspected cardiac amyloidosis who underwent 99m Tc-HMDP imaging were included. We compared visual Perugini grades and semiquantitative heart-to-contralateral (H/CL) area ratios, myocardial maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), and peak of SUV (SUVpeak) between cardiac transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR) and amyloid light-chain amyloidosis (AL).

Esophageal Dysmotility in Multiple System Atrophy: A Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study.

Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is often associated with dysphagia and esophageal dysmotility (ED). However, ED in patients with MSA is poorly understood. To assess the relationship between ED, dysphagia, and other clinical findings in such patients and investigate the details of ED in MSA using high-resolution manometry (HRM).

Repeat Next-Generation Sequencing (15-Gene Panel) in Unifocal, Synchronous, and Metachronous Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer-A Single-Center Experience.

In advanced non-squamous non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), routine testing with next-generation sequencing (NGS) is recommended to identify actionable genomic alterations (AGAs). The therapeutic implications of repeated NGS testing on synchronous and metachronous tumors are unclear. Between February 2017 and October 2020, NSCLC samples from a single institution were reflex-tested using a targeted 15-gene NGS panel (TruSight Tumor 15, Illumina).

Draw & Doodle Simulation: A colorful strategy to prepare medical teams for electronic dance music festival emergencies.

Educational Challenge: Electronic dance music (EDM) festivals - crowded, loud, low-resource environments - pose unique challenges to event medical teams. Simulation can prepare teams to manage clinical presentations in this unconventional context. Without access to simulation infrastructure, a low-technological, low-fidelity simulation modality is warranted.

Ultrasound-Guided Transfemoral Access for Coronary Procedures: A Pooled Learning Curve Analysis From the FAUST and UNIVERSAL Trials.

Background: The learning curve for new operators performing ultrasound-guided transfemoral access (TFA) remains uncertain.

Methods: We performed a pooled analysis of the FAUST (Femoral Arterial Access With Ultrasound Trial) and UNIVERSAL (Routine Ultrasound Guidance for Vascular Access for Cardiac Procedures) trials, both multicenter randomized controlled trials of 1:1 ultrasound-guided versus non-ultrasound-guided TFA for coronary procedures. Outcomes included the composite of major bleeding or vascular complications and successful common femoral artery cannulation.

The dorsal and anal fins can vary widely in position and length along the anterior-posterior axis in teleost fishes. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the diversification of these fins remain unknown. Here, we used genetic approaches in zebrafish and medaka, in which the relative positions of the dorsal and anal fins are opposite, to demonstrate the crucial role of genes in the patterning of the teleost posterior body, including the dorsal and anal fins.

Outbreak of ST646 in a head and neck surgical oncology ward.

Unlabelled: causes a variety of human infections, and hospital outbreaks with this pathogen have also been reported. The purpose of this study is to describe the clinical characteristics of an outbreak of involving 15 patients and four healthcare workers (HCWs), as well as the molecular characteristics of the causative isolates. The course and response to the outbreak were reviewed, and information on the characteristics of the patients was extracted retrospectively from the medical records.

Association of Cardiopulmonary Hemodynamics and Mortality in Veterans With Liver Cirrhosis: A Retrospective Cohort Study.
