Adult rat sciatic nerves contain cytoskeletal peptides that resemble CNS glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in immunoreactivity and molecular weight. Immunohistological examination of teased nerve fascicles indicated that these peptides are expressed selectively by Schwann cells related to small axons. Radiolabelled mouse and rat CNS GFAP cDNA probes hybridized with a single, 2.

To investigate the origin of sister chromatid exchanges (SCEs) induced by inhibitors of DNA synthesis, V79/AP4 Chinese hamster cells were treated with aphidicolin, 1-beta-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine, and thymidine. At the end of the treatments we determined both the distribution of the cells in the various phases of the cell cycle and the induction of SCEs. Our data indicate that the cells that were replicating their DNA were arrested at various stages of the S phase.

A group of forty-nine hemiparetic patients with limited emotional, communication and sensibility involvement and with recent lesion of cerebrovascular aetiology was randomly divided into two groups of twenty-four and twenty-five subjects. Both groups received traditional physiotherapy treatment for one hour/day, one group received twenty min/day of peroneal nerve stimulation. The maximum voluntary dorsal flexion moments of the ankle joint of the affected and non affected extremities were measured with an isometric brace twice a week for one month and for both groups.
