Aims: The aim of this study was to determine the malignant potential of thyroid nodules with macrocalcifications and to evaluate the role of other sonographic findings in the diagnosis of malignancy in thyroid nodules besides macrocalcifications.
Methods: The findings of 8250 patients who applied to our outpatient clinic and underwent thyroid ultrasonography(US) between 2008 and 2021 were retrospectively reviewed. We included a total of 296 patients with 296 macrocalcified nodules (macrocalcification group) and an age- and sex matched group of 300 patients (control group) with the cytopathologic and/or histopathologic data of fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) of thyroid nodules without calcification.

Purpose: To investigate the relationship between cell content and histopathological features of parathyroid lesions and 18F-FCH uptake intensity on PET/CT images.
Methods: Patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (age > 18) who were referred to 18F-FCH PET/CT were involved. All patients underwent parathyroidectomy.
Background: Milan system for reporting salivary gland cytopathology (MSRSGC) was proposed to provide a standardized reporting system for salivary gland fine needle aspiration biopsies. Modified Menghini type semi-automatic aspiration biopsy needles provide small tissue fragments (STFs), as well as cellular smears, and immunohistochemical and molecular studies can be performed using the STFs.
Aims: We aimed to evaluate the contribution of STFs and ancillary techniques to pre-operative diagnosis of salivary gland lesions.

The influence of chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis (CLT) on clinicopathological features and behavior of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) is still debated. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the prognosis of DTC on the presence of CLT. A total of 649 total thyroidectomized patients (379 female, 270 male) with DTC, who had follow-up data for at least 36 months were included.

This study aimed to assess the relationship of tumor diameters (the largest tumor diameter [LTD] and the mean tumor diameter [MTD]) with survival in thymoma patients undergoing surgical resection in a single center.
Methods: The study included 127 thymoma patients (age, 49.

Pulmonary sclerosing pneumocytoma (PSP) is a rare tumor and the imaging appearance is usually a well-circumscribed nodule. Herein we present the clinicopathological features of a 25-year-old female patient with a 4 cm mass in the left upper lobe. She had undergone lobectomy with lymph node dissection with an incorrect intraoperative frozen section diagnosis of adenocarcinoma and diagnosed as a PSP with lymph node metastasis on permanent sections.

Background: This study aims to investigate the frequency, distribution, and morphological/immunohistochemical features of epidermal growth factor receptor mutations and to examine the possible relationship between the material type and technical success of mutation analysis in Turkish population with non-small cell lung cancer.
Methods: Between September 2012 and December 2015, a total of 499 consecutive, treatment-naïve patients (437 males, 163 females; mean age 61 years; range, 30 to 84 years) with primary or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer who underwent epidermal growth factor receptor mutation testing using Sanger sequencing method were retrospectively analyzed. Archival records and hematoxylin-eosine and immunohistochemically stained sections were re-examined.

Intrapericardial goiter cases are only a few in the literature. We present a 53-year-old woman who was operated for 8-cm anterior mediastinal mass located completely intrapericardial and histopathological examination revealed an ectopic goiter. It may be difficult to distinguish between mediastinal masses within or outside the pericardium.

Background: This study aims to identify the prognostic factors for stage I lung adenocarcinoma and to evaluate the surgical management of subsolid nodules.
Methods: The study included 133 patients (90 males, 43 females; mean age 64.9 years; range, 29 to 82 years) who had undergone operation in our clinic for stage I lung adenocarcinoma between January 2007 and December 2015.
We aimed to investigate the expressions of p27 kinase inhibitory protein 1 (p27) and calcium sensing receptor (CaSR) in adenomas and normal parathyroid tissue and to evaluate the relationship of these molecules with clinical and biochemical parameters in primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). Fifty-one patients with histopathologically confirmed parathyroid adenomas and 20 patients with normal parathyroid glands (which were removed incidentally during thyroid resection) were included. Immunohistochemical stainings of CaSR and p27 were performed in surgical specimens.

The thyroid gland is a relatively uncommon site for a metastatic disease, although it is richly supplied with blood. The metastases may originate from various primary sites, mainly kidney, lung, head and neck, and breast. Thyroid metastasis from cervical carcinomas is extremely rare; and only a few cases have been previously reported in the literature.

Classically characterized by its papillary appearance, papillary thyroid carcinoma is the most common malignant neoplasm of the thyroid. Several variants of papillary carcinoma have been described considering size (microcarcinoma); nature of the tumor boundaries (encapsulated); architecture (follicular, macrofollicular, cribriform-morular, solid, micropapillary); cellular characteristics (tall cell, columnar, oncocytic, clear cell, hobnail); additional tumor components (papillary carcinoma with focal insular component, papillary carcinoma with spindle and giant cell carcinoma, papillary carcinoma with squamous cell carcinoma, papillary carcinoma with mucoepidermoid carcinoma); stromal features (papillary carcinoma with fasciitis like stroma); or a combination of the abovementioned characteristics (diffuse sclerosing, Warthin-like). Although most variants do not pose any diagnostic problems; some histological variants can be challenging to the pathologist and some are of clinical significance, because of prognostic implications or accompanying clinical conditions.

Liposarcoma is the second most common soft tissue sarcoma after malignant fibrous histiocytoma in adults. It is frequently found in the extremities and retroperitoneum; rarely it can be seen in the chest wall. We report a rare case of giant liposarcoma originating from the chest wall representing a transformation of a relapsing lipoma in the same region.

Objective: Benign localized fibrous tumors (BLFT) of the pleura are very rare slow-growing neoplasms that generally have a favorable prognosis. The aim of this manuscript is to evaluate the predictors of outcome with the review of the literature in a series of 25 patients with BLFT.
Methods: Between January 1985 and November 2009, 25 patients underwent an operation due to BLFT.
Objective: To describe a case of hyalinizing trabecular tumor (HTT) in a background of lymphocytic thyroiditis that was misdiagnosed as papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) based on fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytologic findings and overtreated with total thyroidectomy.
Methods: We present a case report, including the imaging and pathologic findings, of a 68-year-old woman who presented with a multinodular goiter that was suspicious for PTC.
Results: On the basis of FNA cytologic findings, she underwent a total thyroidectomy, and histologic examination of the thyroid gland revealed HTT in a background of lymphocytic thyroiditis.
Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is a nonimmunoglobulin E-related immune-mediated parenchymal lung disease. A 45-year-old woman who was a lifelong nonsmoker with a six-month history of frequent episodes of cough and dyspnea was admitted to hospital. She had been working as a money counter for 20 years at a central bank.
