This study sought to determine the impact of dietary supplementation with yeast β-glucan on the alleviation of heat stress (HS) in lactating sows during the summer. Thirty cross-bred sows (Landrace × Yorkshire) with an initial body weight of 216.2 ± 7 kg, an average parity of 3, and their litter were used in this study.

Objective: This study examined the effects of a nutrient matrix with or without phytase on the performance of broiler chicken.

Methods: A total of 2,000 day-old Ross 308 broiler chickens were assigned to 5 dietary treatments, with 10 broilers per replicate and 40 replicates per treatment. The experimental diets included 1.

This study evaluated the effects of different nutrient matrices, with or without phytase supplementation, on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, ileal amino acid (AA) digestibility, and blood inositol in pigs fed a complex diet based on corn-soybean meal. Four hundred newly weaned cross-bred (Landrace × Yorkshire × Duroc) 21-day-old piglets of initial body weight 6.35 ± 1.

The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of low crude protein (CP) level with essential amino acids (AA) addition on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, microbiota, and volatile fatty acid composition in growing pigs. A total of 160 growing pigs (Landrace × Yorkshire × Duroc [LYD]; average initial body weight 16.68 ± 0.

Objective: Our study examined the impact of propriety blends of Bacillus strain probiotics on the performance, egg quality, and faecal microflora of laying hens.

Methods: A total of 183 Institut de selection Animale (ISA) brown laying hens aged 23 weeks with an average body weight of 1,894±72 g were randomly allocated into 3 groups as control (corn-soybean meal based diet, CON), 0.5 g/kg Enterosure probiotics (ET1, 3×108 colony-forming unit [CFU]/kg feed), and 5 g/kg Enterosure probiotics (ET2, 3×109 CFU/kg feed) administered in mashed form.

The study was conducted to evaluate the impact of dietary level of crude protein (CP) and protease supplementation on growth performance, digestibility of nutrients, intestinal morphology, and gut microbiota in weaning pigs. Three hundred cross-bred piglets (Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire) were allotted to five dietary treatments on the basis of initial body weight (BW) and sex. Pigs were group-housed in pens with each treatment with 10 replicate pens with six pigs per pen.

Background: In a situation where conventional treatments for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are labor-intensive and there are concerns about the side effects of conventional medications, a 6-month integrative treatment program, including herbal medicine (HM), Floortime, and sensory enrichment therapy (SET) has been used on children with ASD in Korean medicine clinical settings.

Methods: We observed the treatment responses of 18 children with ASD (66.7% male, mean age 3.

The relationships between land cover characteristics in riparian areas and the biological integrity of rivers and streams are critical in riparian area management decision-making. This study aims to evaluate such relationships using the Trophic Diatom Index (TDI), Benthic Macroinvertebrate Index (BMI), Fish Assessment Index (FAI), and random forest regression, which can capture nonlinear and complex relationships with limited training datasets. Our results indicate that the proportions of land cover types in riparian areas, including urban, agricultural, and forested areas, have greater impacts on the biological communities in streams than those offered by land cover spatial patterns.

Objective: Varenicline is an efficacious aid for smoking cessation. In this study, the pharmacokinetics and safety were compared between film-coated tablets of varenicline tartrate (reference drug) and the newly developed orally disintegrating films of varenicline salicylate (test drug), both of them contained 1 mg of varenicline.

Materials And Methods: A randomized, open-label, single-dose, two-sequence, two-period crossover study was conducted in healthy male subjects.

Understanding the complex relationships between land use and stream water quality is critical for water pollution control and watershed management. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between land use types and water quality indicators at multiple spatial scales, namely, the watershed and riparian scales, using the ordinary least squares (OLS) and geographically weighted regression (GWR) models. GWR extended traditional regression models, such as OLS to address the spatial variations among variables.

van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures with two-dimensional (2D) crystals such as graphene, hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) allow us to demonstrate atomically thin field-effect transistors (FETs), photodetectors (PDs) and photovoltaic devices capable of higher performance and greater stability levels than conventional devices. Although there have been studies of gas molecule sensing with 2D crystal channels, vdW heterostructures based on 2D crystals have not been employed thus far. Here, utilizing graphene/WS/graphene (G/WS/G) vdW heterostructure tunnel FETs, we demonstrate the rectification behavior of the sensitivity signal by tuning the WS potential barriers as a function of the gas molecule concentration and devise a fingerprint map of the sensitivity variation corresponding to an individual ratio of two different molecules in a gas mixture.

Objective: Prostaglandin E (PGE) synthesis is modulated by COX2. Changes in PGE could be used to quantify the COX2 inhibition after ibuprofen administration. This study investigated the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic relationships for COX2 inhibition according to three formulations of ibuprofen in healthy male subjects.

The near-field Coulomb interaction between a nanoemitter and a graphene monolayer results in strong Förster-type resonant energy transfer and subsequent fluorescence quenching. Here, we investigate the distance dependence of the energy transfer rate from individual, (i) zero-dimensional CdSe/CdS nanocrystals and (ii) two-dimensional CdSe/CdS/ZnS nanoplatelets to a graphene monolayer. For increasing distances d, the energy transfer rate from individual nanocrystals to graphene decays as 1/d(4).

Three-dimensional microelectrodes were fabricated using glassy carbon electrodes combined with vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VACNTs). VACNTs were grown on various conducting electrode patterns including a carbon electrode fabricated by pyrolysis of a negative photoresist, with plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition using a bilayer Fe/Al catalyst. VACNT electrodes grown on the glassy carbon showed excellent electrochemical behavior, whereas VACNT electrodes grown on Pt showed poor electrochemical performance, presumably due to the poor contact between VACNTs and the Pt electrode.
