The p53 protein can be altered virtually in all human cancers. In the absence of p53 mutations, p53 inactivation is possible via complex formation with other proteins, such as Mdm2. Previous studies have shown an overexpression of Mdm2 and lack of p53 expression in pleomorphic adenomas.
