Melanotic neuroectodermal tumor of infancy in an African-indigenous patient from the Amazon: a case report.

Melanotic neuroectodermal tumor of infancy (MNTI) is a rare condition that occurs normally in the anterior maxilla of infants aged <1 year. The use of clinical and imaging tools for MNTI is extremely important to prevent problems with function as well as the aesthetic features in a breastfeeding child. Brazil is a multiethnic country with a poor epidemiological policy and little data to track the incidence of certain diseases, including MNTI.

Eosinophilic ulcer: the role of stress-induced psychoneuroimmunologic factors.

Introduction: Eosinophilic ulcer (EU) is a rare pathology and its etiology is still slightly known. It is a benign lesion characterized by fast-growing ulceration with elevated and indurated borders, most commonly affecting the tongue.

Case Report: The authors describe a case of EU on a lingual border that was initiated and had its clinical behavior altered by the psychological stress the patient was experiencing.

Background: MDM2, P53, P21(WAF1) and pAKT are proteins associated with the balance between cell death and survival. There are many hypotheses regarding the role of these proteins in salivary gland tumours. However, many molecular events that activate or inactivate regulatory genes remain unknown.

Mdm2, p53, p21 and pAKT protein pathways in benign neoplasms of the salivary gland.

The p53 protein can be altered virtually in all human cancers. In the absence of p53 mutations, p53 inactivation is possible via complex formation with other proteins, such as Mdm2. Previous studies have shown an overexpression of Mdm2 and lack of p53 expression in pleomorphic adenomas.

Distraction osteogenesis in Goldenhar Syndrome: case report and 8-year follow-up.

Goldenhar syndrome is a well-known condition featuring the following triad of anomalies: ocular abnormalities, microtia and vertebral anomalies. This syndrome involves structures arising from the first and second branchial arches. Craniofacial anomalies, including mandibular, zygomatic and/or maxillary hypoplasias are found in 50% of patients with Goldenhar syndrome.

Primary leiomyosarcoma of the mandible. A case report.

The aim of this article is to describe a case of leiomyosarcoma of the mandible with immunohistochemical analysis that was useful in making the final diagnosis. A 40-year-old woman was referred to the Stomatology Clinic of Sao Paulo Tatuape Hospital, for evaluation of a lesion on the left side of the mandible. This lesion presented a fast growth in the last 6 months.
