The new genus Rodaucea is created for a new species of Laboulbeniales parasitic on carrion beetles from Ecuador. The new genus is characterized by the presence of two unequal secondary receptacles flanking cell II on opposite sides. The perithecia have the wall cells arranged in four tiers distinctly unequal in height and the antheridia are phialid-like structures borne terminally on branches of primary and secondary appendages.

A rare case of Rosai-Dorfman disease with prevalent bilateral endo-orbital interest is reported, in which an assisting neuronavigation system was used. The navigation system used is a stereotaxic system without the use of supporting mechanical arms, permitting bi-dimensional and tridimensional reconstruction through the data that are obtained from diagnostic equipment such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, single photon emission computed tomography, and positron emission tomography.

Prophylactic total thyroidectomy represents the standard preventive and therapeutic surgical approach in the treatment of medullary thyroid carcinoma in MEN 2A syndrome. Our experience has confirmed the presence of CCH and medullary thyroid carcinoma even in clinically negative patients, in agreement with reports in the literature.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOsteoma is a benign, slow-growing tumor, which mainly occurs in the bones and cavities of the middle third of the face, representing the most frequent benign tumor of the paranasal sinuses. Osteoma of the paranasal sinuses is generally asymptomatic and it is discovered only as a coincidental radiological finding; when it becomes symptomatic, the most common presenting symptoms are headaches and facial pain. Rarely the sinusal osteoma may entail secondary orbital extension, with ocular signs and symptoms.
