This work proposes an evaluation of the Crystalline Index (CrI) in function of the bleaching process employed during cellulose extraction from corn husk, for further characterization using CP/MAS C NMR, XRD, and FT-IR. In that sense, CrI values were calculated by FT-IR and the bands associated with the crystalline and amorphous regions were observed at 1424 cm and 896 cm, respectively. Similarly, the signals due to ordered (89.

In this context, this work is focused on the application of xanthate-modified alginates for the removal of Pb(II) and Ni(II) from aqueous solutions. In order to confirm the presence of xanthate groups alongside alginate chains, characterization by second-derivative FT-IR was carried out and significance evidence attributed to xanthate groups was found at around 1062-1079 cm, 829-845 cm and 620-602 cm.
