Article Synopsis
  • - Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) involves symptoms or confirmation of acute ischemia or myocardial infarction, primarily indicated by ST segment elevation (STE), but many cases don’t fit typical STEMI criteria.
  • - A case study illustrates a 50-year-old man with anginal pain and an unusual EKG pattern (Aslanger's pattern) that indicated severe blockage in the left anterior descending artery and chronic right coronary artery occlusion.
  • - The distinction between STEMI and NSTEMI can be misleading, as one-third of NSTEMI patients may have complete coronary blockage; recognizing various EKG patterns, including Aslanger's, is vital for better diagnosis and treatment of ACS.
