Various aggressive lymphomas entities have been associated with immunodeficiency. To provide further evidence that also MYC-negative high-grade B-cell (formerly Burkitt-like) lymphoma with 11q aberrations comprises an immunodeficiency-related subtype, we here conducted a comprehensive pathological and genetic workup of a 25-year-old patient with this type of lymphoma and simultaneous papillary renal cell carcinoma. The patient developed both malignancies following extensive childhood immunosuppression and a kidney transplant.

Purpose: Omentin-1/intelectin (ITLN)1 is an adipocytokine with both anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative stress properties, and little is known about its role in male reproduction. Amphicrine carcinoma is a peculiar tumor in which the cells have both exocrine and neuroendocrine differentiation, with mucus and neuroendocrine granules within the cytoplasm. Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma is a biologically aggressive neoplasm mainly found in the head and neck region. Recently, four cases of basaloid squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder have been reported, and three of them occurred in patients with neurogenic bladder, repeated catheterizations and human papillomavirus infection of the urinary tract. To the best of our knowledge, none of the patients affected by basaloid squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder described in the literature had documented genital involvement by human papillomavirus.

Despite the identification of mutations in the methyl CpG binding protein 2 gene, the pathogenesis of Rett syndrome (RS) is still unknown. In order to clarify the role of apoptosis in this disorder, we studied lymphoblastoid cell lines in five classical RS patients and five controls, incubated with 2-deoxy-d-ribose (dRib), a reducing sugar that induces apoptosis in human cells, through oxidative damage. The apoptotic response was detected by flow cytometric analysis and agarose gel electrophoresis.
