Recurrent pyogenic effusion combined with bilateral pneumothorax is a rare complication associated with the COVID-19 infection. Current article presents the case report of a 68-year-old male with the severe community-acquired bilateral polysegmental viral COVID-19 pneumonia. Chest radiography on the 15th day after admission to the hospital showed the presence of air and pleural effusion in the right pleural cavity with collapse of the right lung.

Cone beam computed tomography examination of the 37-year-old Caucasian woman with hemifacial pain, radiating to the left ear which intensified in response to opening the mouth revealed the ossified distal part of the left stylohyoid ligament, 23.85 mm long, which had a contact with the lesser horn of the hyoid.

Unilateral hypoplasia of the mandible, congenital anomalies of the external ear and cervical spine pathology identified in this case are common major signs/symptoms of Goldenhar (Goldenhar-Gorlin) syndrome. Complete fusion of bodies and spinous processes of the second and third cervical vertebrae as well as atlantooccipital assimilation and anterior cleft of the atlas were also found.

A 32-year-old male patient was hospitalized with ventricular septal defect, chronic heart failure NYHA class III, pulmonary arterial hypertension. Contrast-enhanced multislice computed tomography revealed membranous ventricular septal defect, persistent left superior vena cava, bicuspid aortic valve and aberrant right subclavian artery.
