We investigate generalizations along the lines of the Mordell-Lang conjecture of the author's -adic formal Manin-Mumford results for -dimensional -divisible formal groups . In particular, given a finitely generated subgroup of and a closed subscheme , we show under suitable assumptions that for any points satisfying for some , the minimal such orders are uniformly bounded whenever does not contain a formal subgroup translate of positive dimension. In contrast, we then provide counter-examples to a full -adic formal Mordell-Lang result.

A flexible electrode constructed from Fe-based amorphous ribbons decorated with nanostructured iron oxides, representing the novelty of this research, was successfully achieved in one-step via a chemical oxidation method, using a low concentration of NaOH solution. The growth of metal oxides on a conductive substrate, which forms some metal/oxide structure, has been demonstrated to be an efficient method for increasing the charge transfer efficiency. Through the control and variation of synthetic parameters, different structures and morphologies of iron oxide were obtained, including hexagonal structures with a hollow ball shape and rhombohedral structures with rhombus-like shapes.

A self-powered photodetector with the FTO/-TiO/-CuMnO configuration, representing the novelty of the work, was successfully achieved for the first time and presumes two steps: deposition of the -type semiconductor (TiO) by the doctor blade method and of the -type semiconductor (CuMnO) by the spin coating technique, respectively. Investigation techniques of the structural and morphological characteristics of the as-synthesized heterostructures, such as XRD, UV-VIS analysis, and SEM/EDX and AFM morphologies, were used. The measurements of the photodetector showed that the responsivity in the self-powered mode was 2.

The present study aimed to investigate the tribological behavior of high-temperature vacuum-brazed WC-Co-NiP functional coatings deposited on 16MnCr5 case hardening steel. Dry sliding wear resistance was evaluated using a non-conformal ball-on-disk arrangement, at room temperature against 100Cr6 and WC-Co static partners, respectively. Morphological, microstructural, and chemical composition analyses showed a complex, phased structure composed of tungsten carbide, nickel, and hard cobalt-based η-structure.

: It is known that several viruses are involved in the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a new worldwide spread virus that may act as a trigger for the autoimmune destruction of the β-cells, as well, and thus lead to an increase in the incidence of type 1 diabetes. The Romanian National Organization for the Protection of Children and Adolescents with Diabetes (ONROCAD) has collected information regarding new cases of type 1 diabetes in children aged 0 to 14 years from all over the country since 1996 and has computed the incidence of type 1 diabetes in this age group.

The present study investigates the possibility to apply a vacuum furnace thermal post-treatment as an alternative solution for flame sprayed NiCrBSi wear and corrosion-resistant coatings, deposited on a low alloyed structural steel. The controlled atmosphere offers advantages regarding the fusion of the coating, porosity reduction, and degassing. An improvement of the applied heating-cooling cycle was performed through the variation of time and temperature.

Titanium-based bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) are considered to have potential for biomedical applications because they combine favorable mechanical properties and good biocompatibility. Copper represents the most common alloying element, which provides high amorphization capacity, but reports emphasizing cytotoxic effects of this element have risen concerns about possible effects on human health. A new copper-free alloy with atomic composition TiZrPdAgSn₈, in which Cu is completely replaced by Ag, was formulated based on Morinaga's d-electron alloy design theory.

We present the case of a previously healthy 62 year old man who developed primary non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the liver. Biopsy confirmed that it was a diffuse large anaplastic T-cell lymphoma of an extremely rare type. The diagnosis of this type of lesions is suggested by the presence of a hepatic mass without lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly or bone marrow involvement associated with normal tumor markers (carcinoembryonic antigen, alpha-fetoprotein and CA 19-9 levels).

Objective: The aim of this study was to demonstrate the superiority of benfluorex over placebo as an add-on therapy in type 2 diabetic patients in whom diabetes is insufficiently controlled by sulfonylurea monotherapy and who have a limitation for the use of metformin.

Research Design And Methods: Type 2 diabetic patients with HbA(1c) (A1C) (7-10%) who were receiving the maximum tolerated sulfonylurea dose and had a contraindication to or poor tolerance of metformin were randomly assigned (double blind) to receive benfluorex 450 mg/day (n = 165) or placebo (n = 160) for 18 weeks. The main efficacy criterion was A1C, analyzed as the change from baseline to the end of treatment using ANCOVA with baseline and country as covariates.

Unlabelled: It is well known that sometimes it is difficult to distinguish between type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus using clinical criteria, in subjects with disease onset relatively early in adult life. The measurement of C peptide level and of immunological markers may represent important additional tools for establishing the correct diagnosis. The aim of the study is to assess the trend of basal C peptide in patients with clinical diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and to relate it to the type of treatment, the body weight and the positivity for pancreatic autoantibodies.

This review is aiming to study the values of apolipoprotein AI and B and plasma lipid levels (total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglyceride) in well-treated diabetic patients, and their possible relationship with hemoglobin A1, body mass index and insulin levels. The study groups were 26 insulin-dependent diabetic (IDDM) patients, 30 non-insulin-dependent diabetic (NIDDM) subjects and 20 non diabetic subjects (controls). Apolipoprotein AI concentrations were similar in the three groups, but apolipoprotein B values and apo B/apo AI ratio were significantly higher in IDDM as related to NIDDM patients (p < 0.

Several studies suggested that lipoprotein (a)-Lp(a) is an independent atherogenic risk factor. Since non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) is characterized by an increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) as related to the general population, the main purpose of our study was to compare the plasma levels of apolipoprotein (a)-(apo) (a) in 30 NIDDM patients hospitalized in our department, and in 20 non-diabetic controls from Timişoara. Apo (a) values were similar in the two groups (medians, 95% confidence intervals 57 (50-107) in NIDDM versus 58 (51-106) U/l in controls; p = 0.

It has been suggested that insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) patients have higher values of lipoprotein (a)-Lp (a) that may account for their increased atherogenic risk, as related to non-diabetic subjects. We compared the plasma values of apolipoprotein (a)-(apo) (a) in type 1 diabetic patients (n = 26) hospitalized in our department and in non-diabetic subjects (n = 20) from Timişoara, Romania. IDDM patients had higher levels of apo (a) than controls [115(102-227) vs 58 (51-106) U/l; medians with 95% confidence intervals]; (p = 0.
