Introduction: Postoperative myocardial revascularization atrial fibrillation (POAF) is a clinical complication that affects about 30% of patients and its mechanisms of origin are still poorly understood. This fact makes it difficult to identify the patient at greatest risk for this arrhythmia. This mission seems evident due to the complications it entails, including longer hospital stays, risk of stroke, heart failure, and death.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFStudies have shown that an injection with the histamine H4 receptor agonist VUF-8430 modulates emotional memory processes. In the present study, the aim was to verify if intraperitoneal (ip) injection of VUF-8430 (500 ng/kg) in mice affects the synthesis of proteins required for memory consolidation processes by activating the phosphorylation of CREB (pCREB) in classical structures linked to emotional memory (prefrontal cortex, amygdala, and hippocampus) and the cerebellar vermis, a structure that has also been recently implicated in emotional memory. The results obtained using western blot analysis demonstrated that VUF-8430 induced a decrease in CREB and pCREB levels in the cerebellar vermis and prefrontal cortex, suggesting that this dose impaired the activation of cell signaling pathways in these structures.

However, little is known about the effects of the H4 histaminergic receptor in the central nervous system. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of histaminergic H4 agonist VUF-8430 microinjection into the cerebellar vermis on the consolidation of emotional memory in mice subjected to the elevated plus maze (EPM) and inhibitory avoidance task (IAT).

Mice were treated with clazosentan (ET receptor antagonist) or BQ-788 (ET receptor antagonist) prior to stimulation with the superoxide anion donor, KO. Intraplantar treatment with 30 nmol of clazosentan or BQ-788 reduced mechanical hyperalgesia (47% and 42%), thermal hyperalgesia (68% and 76%), oedema (50% and 30%); myeloperoxidase activity (64% and 32%), and overt-pain like behaviours, such as paw flinching (42% and 42%) and paw licking (38% and 62%), respectively.

This study investigated the effects of bilateral intraamygdalar microinjections of PNU-282987, a nicotinic cholinergic agonist, on anxiety and the reversal of amnesia induced by chlorpheniramine (CPA), an H1 histaminergic antagonist, in mice subjected to the elevated plusmaze (EPM). Two experiments were performed with seventy-nine adult male Swiss mice. The isolated microinjections of PNU-282987 did not produce effects on emotional memory; however, the combined microinjections of PNU-282987 and CPA were able to reverse the deficit in memory induced by CPA (ANOVA, p<0.

However, little is known regarding the effects of CPA microinjection into the amygdala on emotional behavior. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether CPA microinjection into the amygdala has the same effect on two models, one anxiety- and the other fear-mediated, in various memory stages using the elevated plus maze (EPM) and the inhibitory avoidance task (IAT) tests.

Bosentan is a mixed endothelin receptor antagonist widely used to treat patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension, and the emerging literature suggests bosentan as a potent anti-inflammatory drug. Superoxide anion is produced in large amounts during inflammation, stimulates cytokine production, and thus contributes to inflammation and pain. However, it remains to be determined whether endothelin contributes to the inflammatory response triggered by the superoxide anion.

The cerebellar vermis of male mice (Swiss albino) was implanted using a cannula guide. Three days after recovery, behavioral tests were performed in the EPM on 2 consecutive days (T1 and T2).

We implanted a guide cannula into the cerebellar vermis using stereotactic surgery. On the third day after surgery, we performed behavioral tests for two consecutive days.

However, EBV can contribute to oncogenesis. It has become evident that alterations in the expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) from the host cell and EBV can also contribute to cancer pathogenesis.

Tests were performed on 2 consecutive days, designated T1 and T2. Before T1, the mice received intraperitoneal injections of saline (SAL), 20 mg/kg zolantidine (ZOL, an H2 receptor antagonist), or 8.

However, recent studies suggest that piracetam can have analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Inflammatory pain is the result of a process that depends on neutrophil migration, cytokines and prostanoids release and oxidative stress.

Evidence indicates that the cerebellar vermis is involved in memory consolidation. Recently, we demonstrated that when histamine is microinjected into the cerebellar vermis it results in impaired emotional memory consolidation in mice that are submitted to the elevated plus maze (EPM).

This paper presents the multidisciplinary management and the personal identity revival of a 72-year-old patient with unoperated unilateral complete cleft lip. The facial deformity was characterized by a protrusion of the excess of orbicularis oris muscle, irregularities of the upper lip, nose distortion, and septum deviation to the cleft side.

Materials And Methods: Forty animals were allocated into four groups: (1) control (C); (2) control+simvastatin (CS); (3) lesioned animals+sterile PBS (LC) and (4) lesioned animals+simvastatin (LS). Lesioned animals were submitted to crushing lesion of right sciatic nerve.
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of 940 nm wavelength light emitting diode (LED) phototherapy on nerve regeneration in rats. Forty male Wistar rats weighing approximately 300 g each were divided into four groups: control (C); control submitted to LED phototherapy (CLed); Sciatic Nerve Lesion without LED phototherapy (L); Sciatic Nerve Lesion with LED phototherapy (LLed). The lesion was caused by crushing the right sciatic nerve.

In T1, mice received an intraperitoneal injection of saline (SAL) or LH before the test and were then injected again and retested 24 h later.
