Xenorhabdus nematophila is the symbiotic bacterium of an entomopathogenic nematode, Steinernema carpocapsae. When the nematode enters a target insect, the symbiotic bacteria are released into the hemocoel. After inducing host immunosuppression, the bacteria multiply in the hemocoel and cause fatal septicemia.
