Since its introduction, laparoscopic surgery has been often preferred over open surgery in obstetrics and gynecology due to its advantages, such as less bleeding, lower incidence of adhesions, reduced postoperative pain, short hospital stay, and quick return to daily life. However, in the case of complex surgeries, laparoscopy presented some limitations. Nonetheless, since the 1980s, medical robots have been introduced to overcome the technical limitations of laparoscopy and start a new age for minimally invasive surgery.

Despite the progress in diagnostics and therapeutics, epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) remains a fatal disease. Using shallow whole-genome sequencing of plasma cell-free DNA (cfDNA), we investigated biomarkers that could detect EOC and predict survival. Plasma cfDNA from 40 EOC patients and 20 healthy subjects were analyzed by shallow whole-genome sequencing (WGS) to identify copy number variations (CNVs) and determine the Z-scores of genes.

This study aims to investigate the independent influence of maternal age on the risk of emergency cesarean section (CS) due to nonreassuring fetal heart rate or arrest disorder. This was a cross-sectional study on women with nulliparous pregnancies, who are attempting vaginal delivery at term and have a cephalic presentation without the indication of elective CS at the onset of labor. The primary outcome was the rate of emergency CS.
