Sodium metal anodes (SMA), featuring high energy content, low electrochemical potential and easy availability, are a compelling option for sustainable energy storage. However, notorious sodium dendrite and unstable solid-electrolyte interface (SEI) have largely retarded their widespread implantation. Herein, porous amorphous carbon nanofiber embedded with Bi nanoparticles in nanopores (Bi@NC) was rationally designed as a 3D host for SMA.

The potential effect of anesthetic drugs on long-term tumor growth, risk of metastasis, and recurrence after surgery has been investigated in cancer patients.

As a result, it is crucial to protect our bodies from UV and HEBL radiation. To achieve complete blocking of UV and HEBL, we developed a lignin-derived carbon quantum dot (L-CQD)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film.

It is generally accepted as being most common in adults, while it is regarded as rare in children. It is necessary to compare the disease between pediatric and adult patients for a better understanding of the disease's characteristics and its natural history.

However, periprosthetic infection is still an unresolved problem. Although published articles have revealed that limited use of antibiotics is sufficient to reduce infection rates, the number of surgeons still preferring elongated usage of antibiotics is not less.

This study reveals that targeting VCP selectively eliminates breast cancer cells while sparing non-transformed cells by inducing paraptosis, a non-apoptotic cell death mechanism characterized by endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria dilation. Intriguingly, oncogenic HRas sensitizes non-transformed cells to VCP inhibition-mediated paraptosis.

During osteoclast differentiation, the cytoskeleton reorganization results in the generation of actin belts and eventual bone resorption. Tetraspanins are involved in adhesion, migration and fusion in various cells.

Here, ruthenium-cobalt bimetallic nanoalloys coupled with exfoliated Ti C T MXene (RuCo-Ti C T ) have been constructed by ice-templated and thermal activation. Due to the strong interaction between the RuCo nanoalloys and conductive MXene, RuCo-Ti C T not only exhibits an excellent hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance with a low overpotential and Tafel slope (60 mV, 34.

In particular, the replacement of carbon-carbon (C-C) bonds with isoelectronic boron-nitrogen (B-N) bonds allows precise modulation of the electronic properties of semiconductors without significant structural changes. Although some researchers have reported the preparation of B N anthracene derivatives with two B-N bonds, no compounds with continuous multiple BN units have been prepared yet.

Although RT locally targets and controls malignant lesions, RT resistance prevents RT from being an effective treatment for lung cancer. In this study, we identified phosphomevalonate kinase (PMVK) as a novel radiosensitizing target and explored its underlying mechanism.

However, little is known about the ubiquitin-modifying enzymes needed for the regulation of APAP-induced liver injury. Here, we examined whether the Pellino3 protein, which has E3 ligase activity, is needed for APAP-induced liver injury and subsequently explored its molecular mechanism.

HMGB1 serves as a damaged-associated molecular pattern (DAMP) that induces tumor angiogenesis and its development. Glycyrrhizin (GL) is an effective intracellular antagonist of tumor released HMGB1, but its pharmacokinetics (PK) and delivery to tumor site is deficient.

Background: Stapes ankylosis is a rare cause of conductive hearing loss, and stapes suprastructure fixation is extremely rare with fewer than 30 reported cases. Patients usually visit the clinic with non-progressive conductive hearing loss that typically began in the early years of life.
Case Summary: Herein, we report a case of a 37-year-old female with an isolated stapedial suprastructure fixation.
Ototoxicity is the drug-induced damage of the inner ear, causing bilateral irreversible sensorineural hearing loss. Cisplatin is a widely used chemotherapeutic agent which causes ototoxicity as its side effect. Pretreatment with metformin prior to the application of cisplatin significantly decreased the late apoptosis and attenuated the cisplatin-induced increase in ROS.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and circulation of tumor cells in the blood play important roles in metastasis. To identify a novel target for metastasis of CRC, we conducted a gene microarray analysis using extracted RNA from the blood of preclinical models.

While the number of individuals with prediabetes and metabolic syndrome (MetS) is increasing, only a few studies have reported differences in cardiovascular risk according to the presence or absence of MetS in individuals with prediabetes. Here, we examined differences in carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and carotid plaques in individuals with prediabetes with or without MetS among subjects who visited a single center in Seoul (Huh Diabetes Center). A total of 328 participants aged ≥20 years, including the group with normoglycemia, were enrolled in the analysis, of which 273 had prediabetes.

Among three types of Galloyl-PDA vesicles prepared by changing the ratio of newly synthesized galloyl group-conjugated 10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid (Galloyl-PCDA) and matrix 10,12-tricosadinoic acid (TCDA), the blue Galloyl-PDA vesicles with 1:9 molar ratio of Galloyl-PCDA:TCDA showed the most dramatic color transitions to red with colorimetric response (CR) value of 46.66 ± 1.
