Article Synopsis
- I-postC is a cardioprotective strategy that reduces ischemia/reperfusion injury in the heart by decreasing endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.
- In a rat model, I-postC was shown to minimize heart damage, apoptosis, and enzyme leakage following I/R events, and it lowered the expression of stress markers like calreticulin and CHOP.
- The study concludes that I-postC effectively protects heart tissue by targeting ER stress, but calcineurin pathways do not play a role in this protective effect.
