Article Synopsis
  • * In a study of 28 TM patients versus 37 healthy volunteers, various scales revealed that 46.43% of TM patients had depression and 78.5% experienced at least mild anxiety, along with significantly poorer sleep quality and higher fatigue levels compared to controls.
  • * Higher levels of ferritin were linked to worse sleep quality and fatigue among TM patients, while those with cardiac involvement had more severe insomnia, highlighting the complex relationship between physical health and mental well-being in this group.

Article Synopsis
  • - The HALP score, which assesses levels of hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocytes, and platelets, was evaluated in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) who underwent mechanical thrombectomy to predict 90-day mortality.
  • - In a study of 122 patients, a HALP score below 13.10 was linked to an increased risk of death and was associated with more cases of large artery thrombosis, while higher scores were correlated with cardioembolism and hyperlipidemia.
  • - The HALP score is a simple and cost-effective way to assess mortality risk in AIS patients, indicating that lower scores reflect worse prognoses and highlighting its relevance in survival predictions during reperfusion therapy.

Children of people with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder encounter great difficulties in coping with the symptoms of the disorders. The study was conducted to determine the feelings, opinions, life experiences, and needs of the children of parents with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. This is a descriptive study conducted using the in-depth interview design, a qualitative method.

This study describes the development of a highly sensitive amperometric biosensor for the analysis of phenolic compounds such as catechol. The biosensor architecture is based on the immobilization of tyrosinase (Tyr) on a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPE) modified with nanodiamond particles (ND), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (IL) and poly-l-lysine (PLL). Surface morphologies of the electrodes during the modification process were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX).

Objective: Various environmental factors encountered in daily life are associated with the development of neural tube defects. This study aims to investigate the effects of fluoride on neural tube development in chick embryos.

Methods: A total of 60 specific pathogen-free, fertile, zero-day Leghorn-type eggs were used in the study.

It is well-known that wireless communication technologies facilitate human life. However, the harmful effects of electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation on the human body should not be ignored. In the present study, we evaluated the effects of long-term, prenatal exposure to EMF radiation on the myocardium of rats at varying durations.

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of feeding methods of bottle and injector on the transition to full breastfeeding and sucking success in preterm newborns.

Design And Methods: This study was a randomized controlled type experimental study. The study sample included 62 preterm newborns, resulting from the strength analysis, who were treated in the neonatal intensive care unit of a university hospital (31 bottle-feeding group, 31 injector feeding group).

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effects of the sGC stimulator Riociguat on testicular ischaemia reperfusion (I/R) injury in a rat model, aiming to understand its protective mechanisms.
  • Rats were divided into three groups (Control, IR, IRR), with the IR and IRR groups undergoing testicular I/R injury through specific surgery, followed by treatment with Riociguat prior to reperfusion.
  • Results indicated that Riociguat significantly reduced tissue damage and inflammation, decreased levels of pro-apoptotic proteins, and improved anti-apoptotic responses, suggesting its potential role in mitigating testicular injuries caused by ischaemia and reperfusion.

Background And Aim: This study examined the effects of black cumin seed oil treatment on oxidative stress and the expression of radixin and moesin in the liver of experimental diabetic rats.

Materials And Methods: Eighteen rats were divided into 3 equal groups (control, diabetes, treatment). The control group was not exposed to any experimental treatment.

Background And Aim: In this study, we aimed to assess the hemostatic and histopathological impacts of the Algan hemostatic agent (AHA) with the liver injury model.

Materials And Methods: 24 male rats, 10-12 week old, were randomly divided into three equal groups (n=8) as control (physiological saline solution), AHA liquid and AHA powder. A total of three iatrogenic cut injuries were performed on the anterior surface of the left liver lobe.

Aim: Acute respiratory tract infections are among the most common infectious diseases worldwide. Respiratory viruses are the leading cause of respiratory infections in children. Herein, we aimed to determine the epidemiologic and clinical feautures of viral agents among hospitalized children with lower respiratory tract infections.

The calmodulin-binding transcriptional activator (CAMTA) family was first observed in tobacco (NtER1) during a screening for the CaM-binding proteins, which are known to be one of the fast response stress proteins. Due to the increased importance of plant transcription factors in recent years; genome-wide identification of CAMTA genes has been performed in several plant species, except for Phaseolus vulgaris. Therefore, our aim was to identify and characterize CAMTA genes in P.

Finding similarities and differences between metagenomic samples within large repositories has been rather a significant issue for researchers. Over the recent years, content-based retrieval has been suggested by various studies from different perspectives. In this study, a content-based retrieval framework for identifying relevant metagenomic samples is developed.

Understanding time-course regulation of genes in response to a stimulus is a major concern in current systems biology. The problem is usually approached by computational methods to model the gene behaviour or its networked interactions with the others by a set of latent parameters. The model parameters can be estimated through a meta-analysis of available data obtained from other relevant experiments.

Background And Aim Of The Study: Hemolytic anemia is known to be a rare complication after the prosthetic replacement of the mitral valve, especially in the presence of perivalvular leaks, and even more rarely after mitral valve repair. Following repair, certain distinct patterns of the regurgitant flow disturbances associated with high shear stress are responsible for the hemolysis. Early echocardiographic recognition of these flow patterns may be important to diagnose the condition and may lead to re-repair or replacement of the valve.
