Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease that is prevalent worldwide. Leptospiral 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase (3-HADH) is excreted in the urine of infected individuals. However, the potential use of 3-HADH as a biomarker for the diagnosis of leptospirosis using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) has not been investigated.

Dynamic observations of CRISPR-Cas target recognition and cleavage heterogeneities.

CRISPR-Cas systems (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) have shown great potential as efficient gene editing tools in disease therapeutics. Although numerous CRISPR-Cas systems have been developed, detailed mechanisms of target recognition and DNA cleavage are still unclear. In this work, we dynamically observe the entire process of conjugation, target recognition and DNA cleavage by single particle spectroscopy of CRISPR-Cas systems on single particle surfaces (gold) with the unique advantage of extended time periods.

Robotic prostatectomy in a patient with hemophilia.

Given the rich blood supply to the prostate and the adjacent Santorini's plexus, radical prostatectomy is associated with significant blood loss even in patients with normal coagulation profiles. In patients with hemophilia, any surgical procedure carries a risk of significant hemorrhage due to a deficiency of factors in the coagulation cascade. For these reasons, hemophiliac patients have often been encouraged to undergo radiation or other forms of nonsurgical treatment for clinically localized prostate cancer.

Endorectal magnetic resonance imaging has limited clinical ability to preoperatively predict pT3 prostate cancer.

Objective: • To assess the clinical value of preoperative knowledge of the presence of extracapsular extension (ECE) or seminal vesicle invasion (SVI) in the planning for prostatectomy.

Materials And Methods: • An institutional database of 1161 robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomies (RALP) performed by a single surgeon (D.B.
