The purpose of the study was to compare quantitative analysis methods used in the early stages of closed-loop system prototyping with modern data analysis approaches. As an example, a mathematical model of the stable coexistence of two microalgae in a mixed flow culture, proposed by Bolsunovsky and Degermendzhi in 1982, is considered. The model is built on the basis of a detailed theoretical description of the interaction between species and substrate (in this case, illumination).

A series of - and -substituted -carborane derivatives with a pendant pyridyl group was prepared. The synthesized compounds were used as ligands in the complexation reactions with bis(triphenylphosphine)nickel(II) and palladium(II) chlorides to give six new metallacomplexes with unusual η:κ()-coordination of the metal center. The single crystal structures of 1-(NCH-2'-S)-1,2-CBH, 1-(NCH-2'-CHS)-1,2-CBH, Cs [7-(NCH-2'-CHS)-7,8-CBH] - and -carboranes and 3-PhP-3-(4(7)-NCH-2'-S)--3,1,2-NiCBH and 3-PhP-3-(4(7)-NCH-2'-CHS)--3,1,2-NiCBH metallacarboranes were determined using single crystal X-ray diffraction.

Article Synopsis
  • * The article explores how factors like inflammation, poor lung function, and blood clots lead to acidosis, creating a harmful cycle that worsens oxygen levels and patient health.
  • * It emphasizes that maintaining normal blood pH could be a crucial strategy for treating COVID-19, given its role in immune response and potential for causing a "cytokine storm."

This work combines experimental and numerical (computational fluid dynamics) data to better understand the kinetics of the dispersion of graphite nanoplates in a polypropylene melt, using a mixing device that consists of a series of stacked rings with an equal outer diameter and alternating larger and smaller inner diameters, thereby creating a series of converging/diverging flows. Numerical simulation of the flow assuming both inelastic and viscoelastic responses predicted the velocity, streamlines, flow type and shear and normal stress fields for the mixer. Experimental and computed data were combined to determine the trade-off between the local degree of dispersion of the PP/GnP nanocomposite, measured as area ratio, and the absolute average value of the hydrodynamic stresses multiplied by the local cumulative residence time.

Article Synopsis
  • * It suggests that these wobble pairs explain increased DNA breaks near cytosines and their asymmetric nature, particularly after methylation at CpG sites.
  • * Additionally, it briefly mentions GC Hoogsteen base pairs as another relevant but less-explored form of non-canonical base pairing in DNA.

A rapid immunochromatographic assay was developed for the control of tetracycline (TC). The assay is based on the competition between immobilized TC-protein conjugate and TC in a tested sample for binding with polyclonal anti-TC antibodies conjugated to colloidal gold during the flow of the sample along a membrane strip with immobilized reactants. Conjugation of colloidal gold and the total immunoglobulin (IgG) fraction of polyclonal antibodies was used to increase the assay sensitivity to ensure low content of specific antibodies in the conjugate.

The authors suggested a new method of performance of open, laparoscopic and robot-assisted partial nephrectomy using specially developed instruments for selective parenchyma clamping in order to improve the functional results of renal cell carcinoma treatment. The operation with clamping of renal vessels was carried out in 86 cases and clamping of renal parenchyma was used in 24 cases. It was shown, that the open, laparoscopic and robot-assisted partial nephrectomy could be safely performed in conditions of selective ischemia of the renal parenchyma without clamping of renal vessels.

This study evaluated the use of enzymatically synthesized dextran nanoparticles to entrap a hydrophobic nutraceutical, the isoflavone genistein. The focus was on the synthesis of pure dextran as the material for the entire nanoparticle, and their inclusion-complexation of genistein. Under optimal conditions (pH 5.

A standard scleral search coil (SSC) system is supplied with a single three-axial transmitter (or with a triad of transmitters) and the direct magnetic coupling between the transmitting coils and the SSC is used for computing the eye location. The SSC's orientation components measured by the SSC system are involved in the location-tracking algorithm as well. The suggested method differs from traditional ones where the eye location is computed indirectly, relative to the measured location and orientation of a transitional three-axial magnetic sensor attached to the subject's head.
