Background: Hyperinsulinemia due to insulin resistance is hypothesized to act as a promotor of cancer growth. In addition to the direct effects of hyperinsulinemia on cancer cells, the stimulation of tumor cell growth can also be indirectly mediated through growth factors and receptors such as insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). Increased cancer risk is also associated with increased adipose tissue, such as in abdominal obesity, due to the higher risk of insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia.

Diabetes-related distress may lead to pessimism and lower self-efficacy which resulted in a deficiency of self-treatment compliance and can cause further bad glycemic control. Knowing the associated factors of diabetic-related distress and solving them may help T2DM patients improve their glycemic control.

These properties make a potential treatment option for T2DM by reducing insulin resistance and increasing insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance in different tissues.

Methods: A cross-sectional population-based study which enrolled 1840 subjects (age 13-100 years) from 7 villages was carried out. Several clinical parameters were measured including age, gender, body mass index, waist circumference (WC), fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), apolipoprotein (apo) A (apoA), apoB, non-HDL-C, T/HDL-C ratio, LDL-C/apoB ratio, apoB/A ratio, plasma insulin, and homeostasis of model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR).

Background: Intravascular fractured fragment of double lumen catheter with embolisation is a serious and rare complication. Another serious complication includes infection, thrombosis, arrhythmias, and pulmonary embolism. We report a successful surgical venous cut-down technique in the retrieval of an intravascular fractured fragment of tunnelled double lumen catheter in a hemodialysis patient.

Aim: To determine the correlation between visceral fat distributions and serum vaspin level in type II DM patients.
Objective: To evaluate the short-duration hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) can improve HbA1c levels, leukocyte count, and serum creatinine levels in patients with diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) Wagner 3-4.
Methods: Blood samples from all DFU patients at Sanglah General Hospital, Denpasar, were taken for HbA1c, leukocyte, and serum creatinine test before debridement procedure, and the patients were then grouped into either standard therapy or standard therapy with HBOT for 10 sessions (combination therapy). At the end of therapy, all blood tests were resumed.
