The study explored the genetic relationship and drug resistance of *Candida parapsilosis* collected from hospitalized patients, aiming to assess whether the resistance is due to transmission or just the spread of resistant strains.
A total of 277 isolates were analyzed using various identification methods and molecular genotyping, revealing seven distinct genetic band patterns, predominantly the C pattern which showed persistence from 2017 to 2019.
The results indicated a high prevalence of fluconazole resistance (76.17%) among the strains, suggesting a significant increase in the spread and dominance of the C strain over the years in the hospital setting.
