Purpose: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the differences in vascularity between the testis on the inguinal hernia (IH) side and the contralateral healthy testis by performing preoperative and postoperative (first month) examinations with superb microvascular imaging ultrasonography (SMI USG), and to compare results with power Doppler (PD) USG.
Methods: In this prospective cohort study, 35 patients diagnosed with IH between April 2023 and July 2023 who were hospitalized in the general surgery ward of a tertiary hospital for IH surgery were evaluated.
Results: The postoperative vascular index (VI) values obtained by SMI were found to be significantly lower than preoperative VI values in both operated and non-operated testes (p < 0.

In this study, we investigated the elasticity of the optic nerve using shear wave elastography (SWE) in patients with Behçet's Disease (BD) and compare findings with a healthy control group. Optic nerve measurements of 40 eyes in the BD group and 38 eyes in the control group were performed by SWE (SWE-right and SWE-left). The mean age of the individuals in the BD group was higher than controls (p = 0.

Methods: This case-control study was conducted in University of Health Sciences, Haseki Education and Research Hospital. A total of 58 individuals, with 29 in each group (according to power analysis), were included in the study.
Unlabelled: Introduction and aim: Progressive systemic sclerosis (pSS) is a multisystemic connective tissue disease characterized by fibrosis of the skin and internal organs including lung. The mechanisms that leads to progressive lung fibrosis in scleroderma remain obscure. In this study, we aimed to investigate the correlation between HRCT findings and patients' clinical and functional status and the degree of alveolitis based on the BAL resultsMaterials and methods: 65 patients with pSS were evaluated.

During the past 14 years, we have assessed risk factors in Turks, a population in which extremely low HDL cholesterol levels (mean 36 mg/dl in men, 42 mg/dl in women) are a prime CHD risk factor. Although genetically determined to a significant extent, these low HDL cholesterol levels can be modulated by lifestyle factors, as in other populations.

We studied four subjects with classic 11beta-hydroxylase deficiency and severe hypertension: a 46,XX affected subject from a Turkish family with severe ambiguity of the external genitalia and hypertension, and three affected 46,XY subjects from a Dominican kindred with isosexual precocious puberty and severe hypertension. The affected subjects had significantly elevated plasma 11-desoxycortisol, 11-desoxycorticosterone, Delta4-androstenedione, and testosterone.
