We present a case of metachronous PC with PBM diagnosed after cholecystectomy for gallbladder cancer, in which follow-up imaging was possible until PC onset. A 63-year-old man who had been diagnosed with gallbladder cancer and had undergone cholecystectomy 5 years earlier developed pancreatitis.

Antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP) is a cellular process by which antibody-opsonized targets (pathogens or cells) activate the Fc receptors on the surface of phagocytes to induce phagocytosis, resulting in internalization and degradation of pathogens or target cells through phagosome acidification. Besides NK cells-mediated antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), tumor-infiltrated monocytes and macrophages can directly kill tumor cells in the presence of tumor antigen-specific antibodies through ADCP, representing another attractive strategy for cancer immunotherapy. Even though several methods have been developed to measure ADCP, an automated and high-throughput quantitative assay should offer highly desirable advantages for drug discovery.

[A case of primary central nervous system lymphoma of the sellar region presented with panhypopituitarism].

The patient is a 41-year-old woman. She presented with vomiting and lightheadedness, and blood tests showed a generalized decrease in pituitary hormones and hyperprolactinemia. A head MRI showed increased signal intensity lesions on FLAIR image in the pituitary stalk, corpus callosum, periventricular area of the fourth ventricle, and superior cerebellar peduncle.

Vedolizumab (VDZ) is a first-line treatment in ulcerative colitis (UC) that targets the α4β7- mucosal vascular addressin cell adhesion molecule 1 (MAdCAM-1) axis. To determine the mechanisms of action of VDZ, we examined five distinct cohorts of patients with UC. A decrease in naïve B and T cells in the intestines and gut-homing (β7) plasmablasts in circulation of VDZ-treated patients suggested that VDZ targets gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT).

The automatic activation of letter-speech sound (L-SS) associations is a vital step in typical reading acquisition. However, the contribution of L-SS integration during nonalphabetic native and alphabetic second language (L2) reading remains unclear. This study explored whether L-SS integration plays a similar role in a nonalphabetic language as in alphabetic languages and its contribution to L2 reading among native Japanese-speaking adults with varying English proficiency.

We describe a case of gastric cancer treated by photodynamic therapy (PDT) with talaporfin sodium using a novel simultaneous light-emitting method. An 82-year-old man was diagnosed with gastric cancer near the cardia with suspected deep submucosal invasion. Surgical resection was deemed high-risk owing to an underlying pulmonary disease.

Introduction: Leucine-rich alpha-2-glycoprotein (LRG) is a potential biomarker for disease activity and reflects mucosal healing in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). However, only a few studies have described a detailed sensitivity analysis of LRG in predicting mucosal healing in patients. This study aimed to evaluate the association between LRG and the endoscopic activity of UC and its predictability for mucosal healing and explore the utility and clinical application of LRG.

The C-C motif chemokine receptor 8 (CCR8) is a class A G-protein coupled receptor that has emerged as a promising therapeutic target in cancer. Targeting CCR8 with an antibody has appeared to be an attractive therapeutic approach, but the molecular basis for chemokine-mediated activation and antibody-mediated inhibition of CCR8 are not fully elucidated. Here, we obtain an antagonist antibody against human CCR8 and determine structures of CCR8 in complex with either the antibody or the endogenous agonist ligand CCL1.

Postoperative deviation in Wassel types II and III radial polydactyly: a retrospective analysis of 73 thumbs.

This study examined the relationship between osteochondral stability and postoperative deviation at the interphalangeal (IP) joint in Wassel types II and III radial polydactyly. Cases with cartilaginous fusion between the radial distal phalanx and the proximal phalanx were classified as type IIB, while the remaining cases were categorized as type IIA. In conventional surgery, the cartilage was routinely resected on the radial aspect of the proximal phalangeal head, while in the modified procedure, this was preserved to avoid postoperative radial deviation.

Post-allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Portal Hypertension Not Associated with Liver Cirrhosis, Veno-occlusive Disease, or Graft-versus-host Disease.

We herein report a rare case of idiopathic portal hypertension (IPH)-like disease that developed after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). A 53-year-old woman who underwent allo-HSCT for acute myeloid leukemia showed portal hypertension with radiological and histopathological findings consistent with IPH, distinct from veno-occlusive disease (VOD) and graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) of the liver. This case highlights the importance of considering IPH-like disease as a potential cause of portal hypertension after allo-HSCT.
