[Purpose] This study evaluated the effect of low-level laser therapy on inflammatory signs in an arthritis rat model as a foundation for elucidating the mechanism of the anti-inflammatory effect. [Materials and Methods] Eigteen Wistar rats were divided into three groups: group I (arthritis without low-level laser therapy), group II (arthritis with low-level laser therapy), and the control group (sham arthritis control). Purpose: Immobilization of skeletal muscles causes muscle atrophy, muscle contracture, and muscle pain, the mechanisms of which are related to macrophage accumulation. However, muscle contractile exercise through a belt electrode device may mitigate macrophage accumulation. We hypothesized that such exercise would be effective in preventing myofiber atrophy, muscle contracture, and muscular pain.
