Background: Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute systemic vasculitis occurring in medium-sized arteries, especially coronary arteries. Patients with KD who fail to respond to standard therapy with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) face a higher risk of developing coronary artery lesions.
