Is signal peptide-CUB-EGF domain-containing protein1 a diagnostic biomarker in patients with hypertensive crises.

Background: Platelet activation might play a significant role in the pathophysiology of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in hypertension (HT). Signal peptide-CUB-EGF domain-containing protein1 (SCUBE1), an indicator of platelet activation, is increased in HT. The aim of this study was to investigate the SCUBE1 in patients with hypertensive crises.

Homocysteine Levels and Oxidative Stress Parameters in Patients With Adult ADHD.

Objective: In our study, we aimed to evaluate the plasma homocysteine levels and oxidative stress parameters in patients with adult ADHD (A-ADHD).

Method: Blood samples were taken from 32 A-ADHD patients and 32 controls enrolled in the study and plasma homocysteine, serum folate, vitamin B12, total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), and oxidative stress index (OSI) were determined. Results were compared between the groups.

Protective effects of selenium and vitamin E combination on experimental colitis in blood plasma and colon of rats.

Ulcerative colitis increases oxidative damage accompanied by production of free oxygen radicals. Selenium (Se) and vitamin E are two natural antioxidants. The present study was undertaken to investigate the possible protective role of Se and vitamin E combination in experimental colitis induced by acetic acid (AA) in rats.
