Article Synopsis
  • Displaced acetabular fractures should be treated with open reduction for optimal functional outcomes, but achieving anatomic reduction can be challenging due to complexity and limited visibility.
  • Virtual planning software can help surgeons visualize fracture details and practice reduction techniques before surgery.
  • A study showed that using this software improved both the accuracy of fractures' reduction and reduced the time taken for two out of four specific fracture patterns compared to traditional planning methods.

Respiratory motion causes errors when planning and delivering radiotherapy treatment to lung cancer patients. To reduce these errors, methods of acquiring and using four-dimensional computed tomography (4DCT) datasets have been developed. We have developed a novel method of constructing computational motion models from 4DCT.
