Synthesis of amino juglone derivatives with adjuvant activity against clinical isolated methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus strains.

1,4-naphthoquinones hydroxyderivatives belong to an important class of natural products and have been known as a favored scaffold in medicinal chemistry due to their multiple biological properties. Juglone is one of the most important 1,4-naphthoquinone extracted from juglandaceae family showing a good antibacterial activity. In this study, we report the synthesis of aminojuglone derivatives through Michael addition reaction using Cerium (III) chloride heptahydrate (CeCl·7HO) as catalyst.

[Malignant transformation of a dermoïd cyst of the scalp. A case report].

Dermoïd cysts are benign tumours, resulting of an embryologic defect. They usually have good prognosis, only a single case of malignant transformation of a sublingual dermoid cyst has been brought back in literature. We report a case of carcinomatous transformation of a dermoïd cyst of the scalp, in a 54 years old man.

[Mesenchymatous chondrosarcoma of the superior maxillary bone. A case report].

The authors report a new case of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma (MCS), occurring in the upper jaw bone of a 19 year-old woman. Radiographic picture in the bone shows an aggressive osteolytic tumor suspect of malignancy. An incisional biopsy was practiced and the histologic examination has confirmed the diagnosis of MCS.

[Maxillo-mandibular osteotomy].

The authors present their experience of maxillo-mandibular osteotomies performed at the Charles Nicolle Hospital in Tunis. The objective of this paper is to describe the preliminary steps (clinical, radiographic, photographic, modelling, cephalometric) in order to obtain a precise diagnosis of the dysmorphosis. They use Burstone's cephalometric analyses which allow evaluation of the relations between soft tissues which do not correspond to the relations of bony and dental displacement.

[An African disease: noma].

Cancrum oris, formerly a fatal disease, is seen in poor regions of Africa. The starting point of the disease is acute ulceronecrotic gingivitis which results in an extensive gangrenous plaque destroying, from inside working outwards, the dental arch, the maxilla and all of the soft tissues of the face. At the stage of sequelae, the therapeutic problem is twofold: functional and morphological.

[Maxillofacial localization of Burkitt's lymphoma. Apropos of 5 cases].

Five children presented with a Burkitt's lymphoma localized to the maxillofacial region. The disease and its clinical manifestations are reviewed briefly, and the frequency of this tumor in Tunisia is emphasized. The Tunisian Burkitt tumor appears to be an intermediate entity between the "non-endemic" form and the African form.

[A new ligation method in treating maxillary fractures in children].

A new method for orthopedic treatment, based on the ligature procedure described by Popov E. in Bulgaria, has been adapted for therapy of mandibular fractures in children.
