Objective: To describe ocular hypertension cases after using a new aflibercept prefilled syringe and to assess the main characteristics of these eyes and their possible association with intraocular pressure (IOP) changes.
Methods: Case series. We reported all the cases of ocular hypertension following aflibercept prefilled syringes (PFS) treatment in our department between April 2021 and December 2023.
Currently, there is no universally accepted, standardized protocol for pre-operative antibiotic administration in the setting of appendectomy for complicated appendicitis among pediatric patients. Strategies to mitigate surgical site infections (SSIs) must be balanced with optimal antibiotic use and exposure. We conducted a retrospective chart review to compare outcomes between patients treated pre-operatively with a single pre-operative dose of antibiotics with those who received additional antibiotics prior to laparoscopic appendectomy for complicated appendicitis between 2020 and 2022.

The current gold standard for molecular diagnostics is the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), but the extraordinary and unmet demand for testing in a variety of environments means that both complementary and supplementary testing solutions are still needed. This review highlights the role that loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) has had in filling this global testing need, providing a faster and easier means of testing, and what it can do for future applications, pathogens, and the preparation for future outbreaks.

Methods: This observational, prospective, and multicenter study analysed BTM and clinical outcome in these patients.
Background: Owing to the limited validity of clinical data on the treatment of prostate cancer (PCa) and bone metastases, biochemical markers are a promising tool for predicting survival, disease progression and skeletal-related events (SREs) in these patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive capacity of biochemical markers of bone turnover for mortality risk, disease progression and SREs in patients with PCa and bone metastases undergoing treatment with zoledronic acid (ZA).
Methods: This was an observational, prospective and multicenter study in which ninety-eight patients were included.
Immediately following the identification of Monilinia fructicola in a Spanish peach orchard in the Ebro Valley in 2006, this orchard and two other orchards in the same valley were intensively sampled for potential tree and ground sources of primary Monilinia inoculum before and during three growing seasons between 2006 and 2008. Methods: A multicenter, prospective, descriptive study was conducted in 4 hospitals in Ecuador, 5 in Uruguay, and 3 in El Salvador between 2004 and 2008. Women who had delivered between 24 and 34 weeks of pregnancy responded to a questionnaire assessing sociodemographic characteristics, obstetric history, prenatal care, women's attitudes to health services and knowledge of preterm risk factors, prenatal corticosteroid administration, and characteristics of the delivery and neonate.

Having previously reported that topical natural ergot alkaloids ergocristine alpha-ergocryptine and ergocornine dose-dependently reduce intraocular pressure in ocular normotensive and alpha-chymotrypsin-induced ocular hypertensive rabbits, the aim of the present work was to compare the effect of ergocristine, alpha-ergocryptine and ergocornine on the intraocular pressure and aqueous humor dynamics in ocular normotensive and alpha-chymotrypsin-induced ocular hypertensive rabbits, in order to further explore the ocular actions of these compounds.
