Experiences of primary healthcare professionals and patients from an area of urban disadvantage: a qualitative study.

Background: The health disadvantage in socioeconomically marginalised urban settings can be challenging for health professionals, but strong primary health care improves health equity and outcomes.

Aim: To understand challenges and identify needs in general practices in a socioeconomically marginalised Australian setting.

Design & Setting: Qualitative methodology with general practices in a disadvantaged area of western Sydney.

Exploitation of novel gum Prunus cerasoides as mucoadhesive beads for a controlled-release drug delivery.

The present study deals with the formulation of pH-sensitive mucoadhesive beads using natural gum isolated from Prunus cerasoides (PC) in combination with sodium alginate (SA) for the controlled release of diclofenac sodium (DS). PC and SA composite (PC-SA), DS loaded SA (DS-SA) and DS loaded PC-SA (DS-PC-SA) beads were prepared by ionotropic gelation method. The absence of interaction between DS and PC-SA was shown by FTIR, DSC and TGA analyses.

Characterization and in vitro antioxidant activity of Albizia stipulata Boiv. gum exudates.

The objective of the present study is to characterize the physicochemical properties and to determine the in vitro antioxidant activity of Albizia stipulata Boiv. gum exudates collected from Northeast India. The total carbohydrate, uronic acid and protein contents, monosaccharide composition and the molecular weight distribution of the purified gum was determined.

Pathogenecity of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Oreochromis mossambicus and treatment using lime oil nanoemulsion.

Fish diseases caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a known pathogenic organism, is responsible for considerable economic losses in the commercial cultivation of Oreochromis mossambicus (Tilapia). The bacteria were injected into healthy fish through intramuscular injection, oral and immersion challenge. Infection was confirmed by histopathological investigation of the infected organs.
